    Default Ecig VG health question

I quit smoking cigarettes after smoking for 12 years. I have been off of cigarettes for about 1 month, and been vaping 2 weeks. Before vaping, my breathing capability while running had significantly increased. Due to both quitting smoking and running daily, the time it took for me to be out of breath while running had increased. So right after quitting smoke, I'd be out of breath in about 30 seconds, then about a week later, 2 min... after a month later, I was running 15 min without being out of breath.

After this month of daily morning runs, I craved cigarettes so much so I ended up getting the Joye Ego (Tornado) , and been smoking just pure VG + water only, no flavor... I just smoked flavorless VG + water because I mostly craved the action of smoking. I did not put any flavor because I just wanted the bare minimum possible. I did not want to be hooked on anything new.

And now it seems I can not breath as well as before. The time it took for me to be out of breath has been decreasing steadily for 2 weeks now in miniscule amounts. So, I am slightly worried and perhaps thinking of tossing the ecig...

Does anyone know if vaping VG + water only can cause to harm my oxigen intake capabilities? I have not changed my diet (eating super healthy + dieting) or sleeping schedule, but my running time has been steadily going the opposite way from before! If you know anything about VG vaping causing harm to lungs or oxigen intake... please please please let me know!

It could be too much water maybe, unless your a chain vaper I can't see VG causing an issue with oxygen intake, maybe you should check with your doctor and see if there's anything else giving you breathing issues like allergies or hayfever. Has there been any plants come out in flower recently on your jogging route?

btw, I was an over weight chain smoker, and after 1 month + 2 weeks, I have lost 17 lbs (I measure myself 10 times a day, at specific times and average out... I think im too paranoid). I was deathly afraid that quitting smoking will make me gain weight, so I started exercising and dieting... hence actually losing weight instead of gaining.

So the whole... me losing oxygen intake capability slowly by vaping.. is not really a big deal. As it clearly isn't as bad a cigarettes, and it helps me stay away from cigs... My concerns are the long term affects. So, if anyone knows of long term effects of vaping VG + water only, please let me know.

hi VPDownunder. Could vaping too much water lower your oxygen intake???

I can't check with my doctor as I do not have health insurance anymore, because I recently got laid off. And I am using this time to purely dedicating myself to be better. Eating healthy, exercising, quitting smoking.

it is possible that allergies are causing it. It is also possible that I have hit my plateau of running (highly doubtful though, since practicing running should only make me run longer). It could be tons of factors like... the water source of mine has changed without me knowing. But since vaping VG + water was the only significant and conscious change I've made, I am assuming this might be causing it more than other factors.

does anyone in this forum, run daily and have seen changes in breathing? Anyone??

Well you are inhaling water vapor into your lungs, that's fine in small amounts but can lead to problems in larger amounts, it's like being locked in a steam room for too long, you start to have breathing difficulties and it's not just because of the heat.
When I hear about the health system you have over there it makes me glad I live in Aus where anyone unemployed or on a pension gets free or near free medical care.

Here's a thorough explanation of weight gain after ceasing nicotine use Joel's Library - Minimizing the Weight Gained

In short, nicotine in cigarettes releases your bodies store of sugars into your blood within seconds. So it's an appetite suppressant. After you cease use your body has to learn how to regulate blood sugar on its own.

I believe that it may temporarily throw ones metabolism off, as well.

Nothing to be deathly afraid of once we know how and why certain things happen.

As for the breathing issues, maybe you are overdoing the glycerin... ?? I've never used it or seen it in its pure form, but isn't it somewhat oily??

I lost weight because as my lung capacity improved I was able to exercise more, I couldn't even walk to the shops without damn near collapsing when I was smoking 60-70 cigs a day

Make sure that your VG is clearly marked USP and that you are ONLY using distilled water. After smoking for 40+ years and smoke free (vaping) for 7 months I have to admit that I am disappointed with how little my breathing has improved but I guess an improvement is a start

    No direct experience.

However my breathing is markedly better. I used to wheeze and cough when going to sleep- that is gone. I also don't cough while I'm sleeping anymore.

And as revealing and inappropriate as the following is:

I had my first session of "Erotic Aerobics" since coming off the cigarettes (an hour ago)- and without going into details let me say it was like going back a whoooole lot of years. I was actually dizzy from being able to breath.

    However....

Perhaps try not vaping an hour before you run and see how that goes?

Also, VG and PG are humectants- which drys things out. Consider upping water intake?

I am not a medical professional. As always... see your doctor if you view this as serious.
