    Default Coughing

I smoke 2 packs of cigarettes a day and I don't cough when I inhale a cigarette. But every time I take a hit off this e-cig, I'm coughing up a lung. I thought the 36 mg cartridge was too strong for me, so I took it out and tried to inhale with no cartridge. Same cough. Feels like I took a huge deep inhale with a strong cigarette. When I take the mouthpiece off, it reeks of menthol. Could it be that there's still menthol on the atomizer and that's still too strong for me? I just don't get it. I do smoke lights, but I don't cough up a lung when I inhale. Am I doing something wrong?

There have been some to have sensitivity to menthol, and also PG. You might try going without the menthol first. If you still have problems, try VG.

I had a friend who had this problem but it was the PG bothering him.

    Good luck!

Yeah be careful you might be allergic to PG. Some of the liquid suppliers sell PG free liquid. I'd check around and look for pure VG (glycerine) liquid and see if that helps.

I was the same way when I started, of course be cautious but you may just want to try a different flavor or step down the nicotine content.

If you do find that PG isn't right for you Johnson Creek makes the liquid in none PG

Taking off the cartridge and then vaping straight from the atomizer won't change anything about the strength (as to nicotine) of what you are vaping... to reach lower nic-mg you really need to put lower mg liquid onto your atomizer (and into your cartridge) - and even then it will take a bit before you have emptied out the supply of stronger nic still in your atomizer on changing... so even then you have to go on vaping for a bit before you start to experience the lower nic amount.
Good luck on getting sorted what is bothering you

I have the same problem and I smoke very STRONG cigarettes. I just got my e-cig in the mail yesterday and I'm convinced that it will help me quit I just need to find my perfect balance for it all. I think I'm going to order some of the NON PG liquid from Johnson's Creek. Ill let you know if it works for me or not

Well I was going to order it until I found out the shipping was double what the actual juice costed and if I wanted FedEx it would be 54? Gah it's a sad day.

I had the same problem with the no nic cartridges that came with my 901. I ordered VG from JuicyLiquid. I use 18mg unflavored with my 801 (it's 14.4mg after I add flavor). Seems to work great and no more coughing. Getting ready to lower my nic level to 10.8 (I mix my own flavors). I already use no nic in the evenings. It's a mix of flavor, VG and distilled water. Works great too. I get the flavor and don't get wired up before bed.

ETA: Forgot to mention, I smoked Ultra Lights. 36mg may be a tad too high in the nic department.

I used to smoke 40 a day and I started with 18mg strength liquid.

24 mg is very satisfiying to vape.

I have never felt the need to try 36mg.

Which brand & flavour liquid are you vaping ?

Some have more hit than others.

Go easy on the 36mg..... pick up some Glycerin (in the baking section of craft stores) or some Proplyne Glycol (pharmacy's or some places online...) and add a drop to your carts if you don't have liquid to tone the 36 down....

You might also just be getting used to the drier vape vs. analog smoke...

It took me about 1.5 weeks to get used to the vapor, and yes, coughing like it was my first analog......

To get me used to the drier vape - I puffed my new toy for a bit, to get my mouth used to the drier vapor, and to remind myself that it wasn't smoke. When I was ready for an inhale, I'd take a draw into my mouth, let some of the smoke dribble out, and then inhale the rest with regular air to dilute the vape.

Analogs have additives to make the smoke smoother - vapor doesn't have this. You will get used to it. You can't rule out an allergy, but some of those with PV allergies got violently sick from it.....
