I don't even understand what this means. Clearly, it represents a rejection of the standard, "Form follows function", which is perfectly logical to me. Function follows form ... huh? You mean "something" is created without any preconceived use in mind, and then figure out what to do with it?

Good PV Mods are an excellent example of form following function. i.e., the desired function is defined before the design is started. The form necessary to fulfill the desired function results. Form follows function.

Anyway, I realize the OP is stating a personal opinion. He's certainly entitled to that opinion, even though it was stated erroneously as a flat out fact. I only have one Mod which I'm using. I chose the P18 largely for its aesthetic worth. And there are other mods which I would also describe as attractive. It should go without saying that it's a matter of personal taste. That which appeals to me might be butt ugly to someone else, and vice versa. It is taste, and opinion, not fact.

    The OP states:
The further an e-cig gets away from the analog's shape, the more aesthetically displeasing it becomes.
That's your opinion, Sir. I have zero desire for a PV which resembles a cigarette even in a vague way. IMO, cigarettes are not attractive objects. I don't even like the end tip LEDs found on many entry level PVs. They seem totally asinine to me.

I love my box mod,and my addiction must be extreme considering the lengths I went to in an effort to make it scream"Sarah". I will take my box mod that runs over 24hrs on 4 AAAs over a sleek battery that doesn't last me 2 hours

Like I said, in Don Quixote's opinion, Dulcinea was beautiful. Boxes and right angles generally are not aesthetically pleasing but boring, and that is a fact. For example, that is why every time someone who can afford to do so directs his/her happy architect to deviate from a basic box form when designing a building. Heck, even Mercedes Benz knows that their better-looking autos have more jazz in their line. Rosa was correct. Enhanced form and sound function are both possible and desirable. That is the goal, and that is why the box mod will be evolved out of existence in relatively short order.

And cigarettes are sleek and sexy according to you. Hate to break it to you, but mods aren't the same thing as cars, and even then I'm sure you've seen plenty of "boxes" driving down the street. And while I'm sure the box design will evolve, I very highly doubt it's going away anytime soon. If anything the FDA will make it so any PV than even looks like a cigarette will be the one on the chopping block.

So you'd be okay with a "sphere" mod? Or an "oblong blob" mod?

Design is subjective. For every M-B that's gone swoopier, there's a Cadillac that's moved to sharp angles and lines (their "Art and Science" design language). For every Frank Gehry "discarded wad of bubblegum" design like Seattle's EMP where there's not a single straight line anywhere, there's a Frank Lloyd Wright Fallingwater or Guggenheim with stark, sharp lines. One is only "better" than the other subjectively (subjectively, I hate the heck out of the EMP. What an eyesore).

Variety is the spice of life. When I began on ecigs I was under the notion I had to stick with something analog like. Started with an eGo and I did enjoy it until I found a Reo Grand. To me it is very aesthetically pleasing and performs perfectly. No more messing with napkins, paper clips, blue foam, carts, etc. Just a bottle and a battery swap once a day and I'm good to go until the next day. As a all black box it looks perfect (to me). As a metalhead for many decades I'm sure my opinion of aesthetics is instantly discarded by most people. I'm used to it, and don't hold it against you.

Liking or not liking a type of anything is good. There are many options out there for all of us and I'm sure one will be for you. The rest are for other people because they are obviously selling. So like them or not, it's rather moot. The fact they all exist is good for us all. Pushing innovation in all directions to please a growing crowd.

OP is correct. So many batter mods look like you're sucking on a sex-toy. Sorry, just how it is. I use an eGo with a 1000 mAh battery and and cone in basic black and it gets compliments (like tonight at a bar in IN). It doesn't look like a cigarette, but it does look pleasing. OP's challenge to the engineering types is fair. Surely there's a way. The Black Beauty I've seen advertized is the only bat mod I'd consider for the moment.

The OP can just stay with his Blu or similar model and leave the better PV's to those of us with little fashion sense but very good vaping sense. Both sides will be happy and one side will be enjoying a much better vaping experience. Problem solved.

Maybe one day someone will develop a 3.7 volt 3000 mah LI-ION watch battery and we can all be happy

For one, I'd rather my Personal Electronic Nicotine Inhalation System NOT be compared to a sex toy.

But also there will ALWAYS be multiple ways to achieve the same result, and saying a tube shaped HAS to be the only one is just silly. It just happens that tube shapes and box shapes can fit comfortably in the hand.

I'm sure you have a cell phone, or at least know someone that does. How many different shapes do those come in? Box and flip phone from what I can tell, and even the flip phone is just a box cut in half with a hinge, isn't it?

Rest assured, there will most likely always be a shape that you will enjoy, and plenty of choices for the people that want something different.
