Default Is the Dura-C Good For Beginners

I smoke about 30 a day now. Have been rolling my own for quite some time with a machine & tubes. All HQ natural tobacco, very smooth, & without too much burn or aftertaste. My normal draw is about 1 second, so not too heavy, & I get a sufficient hit on the throat from that. I'm looking for 3 key things. 1. Long life, because I smoke pretty consistently throughout the day in front of my PC, so A USB pass-through would be ideal. 2. Nothing too harsh, but something that will allow for a nice medium draw & good smoke 3. Flavor. The tobacco i smoke Mclintock & it's a very nice sweet, smooth blend, 100% tobacco without burley. So a few good juices with a nice mellow but sweet flavor. So please list some juices you guys enjoy. I saw the nice review for the Dura-c, & it looks like a perfect fit for me. The kit I saw looks like a start. Is there anything else needed? Also are there any others that are similar & or a better choice? Thank You.. This is a nice board here.

I have a Janty Dura-C, and I love it except for the battery life. But I'm a heavy vapor, so it's not surprising that battery life is shorter for me than for the average guy.

I can't comment on the passthrough because mine was a dud, and I need to exchange it. I've been lazy about that because I primarily use my Kissbox while at the computer. In terms of flavor, I personally find that I get a lot more taste from my Kissbox than I do from my Dura. The Dura tends to run hotter, which I think affects the taste. Also, the Kissbox has a longer barrel for the atomizer, and I think that might affect the taste (as opposed to the shorter barrel of the 510).

That being so, why do I fuss with the Dura-C if the Kissbox delivers better flavor for me? Well, the Dura-C provides a harsh, hot hit, more reminiscent of an analog cigarette for me . . . and sometimes that's exactly what I want.

I hate to throw another model in the mix, but when you say that you like a "smooth" smoke and not too harsh, I can't help but wonder if the Dura-C is the best choice for you.

Edit your profile to show your location . . . you might find a member who doesn't live too far away who'd be happy to let you try a couple of devices to help you make your decision. I have an open invitation to anyone in the St. Louis area who wants to make the trek to West County . . . I have so many models to test drive, it's insane.

Not to discredit that poll, but I'm pretty sure that there are more people on ECF whose favorite e-cig is the 510/yeti/titan/dura-c.

I wouldn't recommend any of the more pricier mods to a beginner, simply because most beginners are usually not sure of what features they like in an e-cig (or if you like them at all). So, there is no point in spending $140 or more on an e-cig until you know what you're getting yourself into.

Anyway, the Dura-C is perfectly fine for beginners. The manual button provides the user with near complete control over their hit, and the sealed battery chamber makes dripping all but full proof. The only complaint most users have is with the battery life, as it only lasts a little over an hour if you are constantly puffing on it.

Some nice accessories to have would be the PCC charging case, which is invaluable on the go (especially if you're a heavy vaper), and the USB passthrough for your home or office (which eliminates the need to constantly charge batteries).

In all honesty, I would avoid Janty and buy the 510/Yeti/Titan/Dura-C from other suppliers. I would check Widows Bead Work for the lowest prices on a PCC case and USB Passthrough (plus free shipping), and Electro-Nic-Stix for their lower prices on starter kits and great customer service.

If you're into tobacco flavor, some good tobacco e-liquids to try (from just about any supplier) are Hilton, Flue-Cured Tobacco, and TAB/Virginia. You can also try Marlboro, Camel, Turkish, and French Pipe to satisfy your tobacco e-liquid needs.

The DuraC/510 manual is the favorite PV right now.

The best price I have seen is $43 from eastmall but it will take a week to two weeks for delivery.

510 manual is my main PV then the KR-808D-1 as a back up. I purchased half a dozen batteries from widows bead work for the 510 and carry 4 batteries for the KR-808D-1 and Im never with out a working PV no mater how long im out.
If you get a 510 buy the USB charger and either a USB battery pack or if your in the car a USB adapter for the car. The charge time on the 510 batteries is about 1 hour so you can always be charged and ready to go.

The 510 is small and light. It delivers massive hit and flavor. Atomizers work well for 4 weeks on average and last up to 10 weeks on average.

510 is a good choice for a beginner.

I agree that you should experiment if possible prior to buying any PV. The 901 or Dura-C are both recommended by many for beginners. There is no "proof" that the 510 is "the" favorite PV such as the poll posted above. Just the opinion of one poster.

All you gotta do is read the forum and it is clear the 510 manual is currently the favorite PV going right now.

I don't need a poll of less than 1% of the forum members to tell me that.

It's possible that the 510 is the favorite of the few who post more than others but that lacks any credibility. At least the poll has actual numbers associated with it instead of conjecture from one person. Conjecture is all there is, however, when making definitive statements with no facts.

Well according to that poll the DuraC/510 is the second favorite so looks like it is all good.

To the OP, looks like the 510 or DuraC is a GREAT purchase.
