    Waldo sez:

I am not trying to tell you that you have a top of the line e-cig. What I am trying to tell you is that before you just dismiss the SE GOLD, make sure you are getting what you can out of it. I have several e-cigs now and the SE GOLD is the one I use at work. I am a carpenter and it stands up to the abuse of a jobsite very well IMHO.

    >

I don't know how much this will benefit anyone else but your situation mirrors mine, so I have to ask a couple of questions. I'm presuming you use only the 4081 for a typical day's work? How many batteries do you bring along? Do you bring the charger to work and where oh where would you plug that thing into? (those <cough> low-life electricians don't even hang enough power drops from the ceiling to run the power tools. When one is lucky enough to find a drop there is always a couple of 3-ways plugged into it, a couple of cell chargers, a radio and an occasional screw gun as a prop) LOL

What happens if you get stuck working OT?

I've been home for a couple of weeks so the transition to vaping has been easy. But, I'm concerned how this may translate on the job site when I go back in a week or so. Have you had any issues with building personnel, general contractors and such with the e-cig?

I plan to head out the door with 2 fully charged 801s, a 2ml juice bottle and a RN4081 as a back-up. I know that seem excessive, I certainly don't vape *that* much, but Waldo -- I am not going back to analogs. What has your experience been like?

    Thanks -- Richie

I love my SE Gold. True... I got ripped off but I still use it all the time. I also lend it out a lot to friends who are curious about e-cigs.

My current favorite is the manual switched 510.

    Richie,

One of my e-cigs is the Janty Dura-C and when I got it I also got the PCC case to go with it. The PCC is a Personal Charging Case that has, I think, a 1300mAh battery inside and lets me charge batteries on the go. To my surprise it works just as well with the 4081 batteries.

Charging is never a problem for me because this. The PCC is also good because it uses a mini USB port to charge the case itself so in a pinch it would not be all that difficult to get a hold of a mini USB charge. Ask around the job and someone will have a motorolla cell phone charger .

The PCC is certainly not perfect and not the best workmanship in the world but it does what I need it to do. I look forward to future revisions of the PCC.

With regards to the general contracting supers and safety officers, lets just say I am not always their favorite guy on the job. I am questioned on EVERY jobsite i go to. Usually the conversation will go something like this....

GC Rep: Hey, you can't smoke here

me: OK, if I see anybody smoking I will let them know.

GC Rep: NO YOU!!! YOU CANT SMOKE!!!

me: OH, I am sorry, you are mistaken. I am not smoking, this is a nicotine inhaler that keeps me from smoking cigarettes.

GC Rep: oh, is that one of those electric crap things I heard about on tv?

me: probably, but it is what I use to keep me following your rules. It has no fire threat and what you think is smoke is actually a vapor that just disapates into the air in seconds and does not violate the smoking bans. It is like when you exhale on a cold day.

    GC Rep: Alright fine.

You need to take the advantage by being prepared for the conversation. Since I have had this conversation a bunch of times already I am prepared. For the super or safety officer it is generally the first time they are having the conversation.

A key point is to NEVER be baited into using the word 'cigarette' as in 'electric cigarette' or electronic cigarette to refer to what it is. If the GC is actually smart enough to use that phrase with my then I answer possibly instead of probably. But I will NOT let the word cigarette come out of my mouth in refrence to what it is. I just insist it is a nicotine inhaler.

Talking to guys on the job I have no problem with electric cigarette or electronic cigarette but I refuse to use those phrases with the GC.

Do you ride the LIRR? the back seats by the doors that lead from one car to another are the least confrontational seats for a vaper.

People ARE going to ask you about it if you use it in public but then again there are also LOTS of people that will not say a word no matter where you are or how much it looks like real smoking.

Like i said i have issues getting a good enough hit out of the SE gold. Maybe with a fresh bat and a brand new cart its good for a little bit, but even then its seems some carts are good and some aren't. Any way i just ordered a manual switch 510 and a pass through it for and 100ml of juice. So hopefully i'll be good to go soon and wont need anymore analogues.

the 510 will give you a good solid throat hit.

When you get the liquid, try what I suggested before about putting 2 drops of liquid directly on the atomizer and using a blanked out cartridge.

    Good stuff, Waldo. Thank you.

We're on the same page. I have a Jantystick coming and plan on defining it as simply "an inhaler". If questioned further -- "an inhaler for my affliction".

Turner tots and the like aren't the brightest lamps in the string anyway.

Us tradesmen have unique issues with smoking. (well, not you or I because we don't smoke! I love saying that!) But in regard to access to the great outdoors from, say, the 53rd floor of XYZ building sans the ability to use a passenger elevator. Just another reason to quit aside from the obvious ones and quite possibly keeping one's job. Being "out of the work area" is cause for dismissal in my trade.

If you are planning to buy another PV, then as one of the earlier posters mentioned, do yourself a favor and consider a larger battery unit. The Screwdriver, GG, LV/Zi Moshi, Prodigy and the Janty Stick (to a lesser extent) provide 7-8 hours of battery life and have consistently top notch throat hit. The batteries cost $2 instead of $20 and you can get them at many battery online stores. You will save money over time just due to the low cost of the batteries. And they all have manual switches which allow you to heat up the atomizer as long as you want, producing better throat hit/warmer vapor and you don't have to be concerned about liquid getting into the battery compartment and gumming up the auto switch.

The Big Five in Manual Switch PV’s:

    Screwdriver: ecigscrewdriver.com
    Prodigy: PureSmoker.com - Your #1 Source For PV's, Parts, & Accessories!
    GG: THE GG
    JantyStick: Janty USA
    Zi Moshi Home

so i talked the lady into exchanging my both batteries and my atomizer on the spot but only cause it was within 30 days of purchase. otherwise she would have told me to screw off and i would have to send to the manufacturer and wait for a replacement. they are now offering a five year waaranty for 25 bucks though. i may have to look into the details of that next time im there. i mean if i can get basciaklly a whole new kit every month for 5 years for 25 bucks ill do it. if i have to send it in and wait its not really worth it. am i supposed to smoke cigs while i wait for it to get shipped? anyway this thing isnt bad with a fresh new bat and atomizer. good solid hits. my only complaint now is that a cartridge certainly isnt what they advertise. but we all know that anyway. it seems the wool is flimsy and could be packed tighter or be larger to hold more liquid. from pictures ive seen it seems some other models have much larger storage in their carts. i hope this one doesnt do the stay on and get red hot thing myy last one did. as i think thats what killed it so quick. so now i have a gold and a 510 on the way.. a screwdriver is probably my nexyt stop but ill see how the 510 treats me for now. thanks again for all the help.

Evaporator- I too bought the gold at the mall...arrrrrr
I've got to return another 2 batties but they will exchange parts for a full year.
I bought some e juice and am saving my carts and plastic tip inserts so that when I use up a cart, I put one or two drops in the cart and slip the little plastic cover back in and have read most people get about 5 reuses out of one cart. They will start getting weird when they wear out.
