    Default Do you feel healthier?

    Hey All,

So I just got my first e-cig in the mail yesterday (DSE 901) and have already burned through my first cartridge. I also only had two analogues in that span of time (would have probably had at least 15 by now)!

So my question for those who have been vaping regularly and are no longer using analogues...

Aside from just knowing that what you are doing is better for you, do you feel healthier vaping than you did while you were smoking?

Do you still have a morning cough?

Can you breathe better when getting exercise?

Any new bothersome side effects appear since starting vaping?

Any smoking side effects you never noticed before disappear since vaping?

I ask because I have already noticed that the VG liquid is harder on my throat than analogues were. It was pretty hard to replace my morning cigarette today with an e-cig because it hurt my throat so much (maybe I haven't started vaping correctly yet? nevertheless, still didn't have an analogue.)

I also ask because my main reason for quitting smoking is to get rid of shortness of breath. I'm an avid outdoorsman, and whether it is rock climbing, backpacking, or kayaking, I always have to take more breathers than my non-smoker friends, meaning I am slowing them down.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

    -Shaggy

Can't figure out how to edit this post, so I'll reply with my edit.

I meant to say PG liquid instead of VG.

You'll feel plenty of recovery from your analogs just give it time. Your lungs will clear up and you'll lose that hacking cough. As far as the harshness of the liquid...you might just be averse to PG-based juice. Try to order some non-PG/VG juice and see if that helps. I can say however that the first two days my morning vape would really irritate my throat. This should lessen once you have a coating of PG on the back of your throat. Just grab a glass of water. Remember your first analog and how badly your body wanted to reject it? Your body will adjust to this new habit in time as well. Only this time it's well worth the trouble.

Edit: I found this thread really informative when I was getting started:

I breathe much easier, takes alot more to get me winded now when working out or even just walking to work.

I never had a hacking cough or anything so can't comment on that.

No more morning (or any other time) smoker's cough. I can BREATHE! The only "side effect" has been curbed by adding more fiber to my diet ('nuff said there).

There was a very slight learning curve for me... in how to "vape" as opposed to "smoke". There was a subtle difference -- but at first, I had moments when it seemed like the vaping was too strong. I'm at a nice nicotine level now, and have no desire to return to analogs. However, I would like to get to 0mg of nicotine at some point. But for now, I'm cool.

    Hey All,
    Hi back

    For the most part
Do you still have a morning cough?
Only when it's muggy and humid and icky outside
Can you breathe better when getting exercise?
Exercise??? What's that? This is my exercise
Any new bothersome side effects appear since starting vaping?
Only the jitters I get when I vape too much too long and i get that energy rush like I just downed 15 espressos and the fact that my appetite has shrank significantly
Any smoking side effects you never noticed before disappear since vaping?
Ummm I'm not sure how I'd know they disappeared if I never noticed them before???
But if you mean ones that most people don't realize.... the skin on my face has cleared up..less blackheads and other nasty crap like that that was a nice little bonus.. i guess its the lack of the smoke smacking you in the face 20x a day for 8ish minutes straight.. i suppose its to be expected

I ask because I have already noticed that the VG liquid is harder on my throat than analogues were. It was pretty hard to replace my morning cigarette today with an e-cig because it hurt my throat so much (maybe I haven't started vaping correctly yet? nevertheless, still didn't have an analogue.)
VG shouldn't hurt your troat.,.. the 1 time I tried VG I threw it out because i thought it was way too weak compared to the PG... Odd

I also ask because my main reason for quitting smoking is to get rid of shortness of breath. I'm an avid outdoorsman, and whether it is rock climbing, backpacking, or kayaking, I always have to take more breathers than my non-smoker friends, meaning I am slowing them down.
I would think that once your totally transitioned away from analogs your lungs would clear up... last time I converted to vaping from analogs after about 3 weeks I noticed I could go up and down the stairs without huffing and puffing anymore... I honestly haven't paid attention this time.. when I go home.. I'll make a mental note and let ya know

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
I've always got input.. but it's rarely appreciated

Think it will take time to heal all the damage I have caused over the years using analogs,, can say I feel calmer for being off of analogs, feel I do have more options for choices instead of only feeling analogs is the only choice... That deep seeded panic is gone.. That would be the main thing for me,, is that sufficating panic about needing analogs,, isn't there anymore... I never had that before when trying to quit analogs in the past.. So the e cig has made a difference for the one thing that held me back before.

Well, I never exercised regularly before, it was hard!

I do now, it's not so bad.
