Default Salutations from and Obervations of a Noob

Hello all. Glad to be here. This place is chock full of helpful people and information.
I’ve been a 1+ ppd smoker for 30 years and have always been a smoke loving guy. Increasingly as I’ve progressed through my 40’s though I’ve grown to realize if I don’t quit tobacco it’s going to kill me. I think everyone knows the story – gum, patches, snus, chantix (shudder) etc. and nothing has worked because you can substitute the nicotine but not the act of smoking which I love.

Then last Christmas I was walking through the mall and saw a kiosk selling e-cigs. I stopped to inquire but after I heard $ 250.00 I moved along and didn’t think too much more about it. A few weeks ago however I was getting over a bout of bronchitis when while at the local pub with friends I see someone puffing on an e-cig. I went over, introduced myself and asked him about it. Heard a lot of what I read around here. Had it for five months…loves it…only had one “analog” since the second week he got the e-cig etc. etc. so I headed for google. Wish I had found this forum earlier but live and learn.

Anyhoo…I bought a Smokstik and some extra cartridges and set out to see what this was all about. I’ve learned a lot in the last month. <warning – understatement of the year>

After a bit of trial and error and a lot of fiddling around (and finding this forum) I figured out how to work the Smokestik so that I actually got a nice amount of vapor and a bit of a throat hit. On the following conditions –

1. The battery had just come off the charger with a full charge. (the good battery – not the iffy one)
2. The automatic switch decided to cooperate and give me more than two seconds of power before telling me I was overusing.
3. I had a full cartridge (not preloaded from the manufacturer but self filled with Johnson Creek Tennessee Cured <VG> 24mg Smoke Juice goodness. <WOOT!!>
4. The Vape Gods were all aligned with Jupiter and not Mars.

Needless to say I knew I was getting there but was a bit frustrated. Meanwhile I was surprised to find that I was down to only 4 or 5 analogs a day. After reading a lot of reviews on this forum and not hearing back from my vendor about two atomizers that arrived seemingly DOA in my mailbox I decided to buy another e-cig before mine bit the dust.

Enter the Joye 510 from e-SmokeyTreats.com that arrived on my doorstep yesterday. A MUCH more satisfying experience – in large part because now I know quite a bit more about what I’m doing – but the manual battery is a huge plus to me. Automatic switches are a great idea but not so great in practice IMHO. I’ve had it less than 24 hours but so far it just works. I like that.

Anyway, I’m sorry to run on so long but just wanted to say hi and thanks for all that I have learned here so far. I look forward to participating in the future. (And I’ve also joined a bunch of others waiting on the Prodigy I ordered from Pure Smoker two days ago. )
