    Question Airplane Tokin' question.

As I alluded to in my last very long post on the board, I plan on going to Asia (Specifically Thailand) next spring. Which is why I am buying an e-cig.

It is unlikely that I will be able to sit in my seat tokin' away on an e-cigarette. I'm not even going to try it.

However, I am hoping to use it in the bathroom!

    My question is:

How sensitive are the smoke detectors in airplane bathrooms?

Will the vapor from e-cigarettes set them off?

If not, how long can I toke while perched upon my metal throne without them going off

Thanks for any and all info!!

The vapor evaporates too quickly to set off the smoke detectors.

OTOH, spend too long, and it would look suspicious anyways.

I bet you could get away with it in your seat. Just hold it in a beat or two longer than usual and exhale through your nose. There will be very little if any visible vapor that way. Maybe pick a window seat.

Oh, and I used to fly to Thailand a couple of times a year, until recently. I figured you were talking Thailand on the other thread. 17 hours. From, I'm guessing, Nevada? 16 for me, from SF.

I haven't gone since I started e-smoking, and I had to cancel my usual Fall trip this year, but I'll hopefully be able to go by next February or March, if Uncle Sam doesn't spank me too hard, so I'll let you know how it goes. What airline do you fly?

And don't forget to open the airplane window. Lets hope you get an automatic, cause trying to roll down a manual airplane window is horrible ...

Coming from Sarasota, Flordia.... The 17 hour figure is just the leg from the east coast to somewhere in Asia (Korea/Japan/Taiwan). There is another 4-6 hour flight I have to take after that to get to Bangkok. Add another hour or three to get from Sarasota to wherever the big flight leaves from (I flown out of Atlanta, Chicago, and Newark). It ends up total 25 hours or so.

When I started going, I flew Korean air (terrible airline) as they were the cheapest. Last trip I flew EVA air in their premium economy class (bigger seats). I can never go back to standard economy after that.

Evergreen Deluxe/Elite Class! Me too! I got my Gold card after my last trip. ANd they upgraded all the planes on my route to the new 777's!

I hear Thailand is frowning on e-cigs?

Anyway, best buy a pen-style (Classic) or even a disposable cigar. I find that the batteries on my minis don't last too long.

Personally, I'll go back on analogues when going to Trinidad this December. Can't be doing with all the periphernalia. But e-cigs are definitely better.

I wouldn't risk it. You'll scare people... even though you have a good explanation it's just not worth the trouble.
