how long to hold button on 510
I have read and read on this forum and thought I was ready for the day that I got my kit. Well, today I got my first kit with manual batteries and realized that I didn't know if I should hold the button down for a second before taking a hit ? and should I hold the button the whole time that I pull on it? please help.

I push it down just before I take a drag, and hold it for the duration of the drag, and then let go as I stop pulling.
Has worked well for me.

Thanks for the info. I will try that. Have you been able to quit analogs completely? That is my goal.

I do the same thing press the button down then inhale. Though there are times when it's in my mouth and I start to pull before pressing the button. I tend to take long vapes, 2-3 seconds. I've been off analogs for 3 weeks now. Not bad considering I only started vaping about 5 weeks ago, and I was smoking half a pack of Marlboro light 100's for 18 years.

I push the button on the way to my mouth, 1 sec, hold while I draw for 3 to 4 sec, release draw another 1 sec, about 5 seconds with the button pushed. Works for me. Was 2+ packs a day smoker for over 30+ years.

I was able to go directly from analogs to vaping with no analogs. There was a period in there were I had no working PV and so I was back to analogs, but that problem is sorted now, and I have backups to make sure it doesn't happen again.

The 510 got me off analogs... something about the relative heat in the hit probably was key. The Janty stick is keeping me off em. It's been two months since I touched an analog, and I was coming up on my 40th year of smoking analogs.
Free at last... free at last... woo hoo - ain't felt this good in years... and I've rediscovered what my nose was for.... (oh man what a straight line for Elandil)

Same here. I push down before I get it to my mouth - like when I know I'm going to take a drag, and let go as stated. Sometimes leave it in the mouth and again, push before I'm going to drag.
The flat tip (whistle tip) is good for holding in the mouth. If you do that. .... dietsmokes/eastmall two different types. I like the first.

I'd say try some different techniques to find the right hit. You can hold it a long time if you need to.

Almost
I've almost quit analog altogether, but for some reason, I'm missing something in the e-cig that I get in the analog? Maybe it's in my head? I started with the 801, I was not happy with that at all. I got a 510 yesterday and love it! Of course there are a couple of things that bug me. It's a bit annoying to have to hit the button. I just wanna hold it and smoke it like an analog. I do understand why the button is there, but..... The taste is another... they say it taste like an analog. I don't think it taste anything like it at all. It's a bit nasty and like a cigar, which I HATE! I love the Vapor, want even more... I want so much I can't see.... So... Tons of Vapor, a decent taste and no button with a battery that last at least 2 hours would be GREAT. Any ideas?
