    Default Hi all, new member

    Hi all,

Expect a lot of new traffic -- you guys got several mentions over at a thread about E-Cigs on Gizmodo.

I'm 45, been smoking off and on since I was 18. Currently smoke about a half pack of Camel Blues a day.

Until today I was unaware of all of the options available in terms of liquids, vaporizers, etc. I had tried no-name e-cigs found at the local 7-11, but never felt right about them coming from China, with no mention of ingredients. Wasn't sure if I was doing more harm than good.

Anyhow, could someone point me in the direction a good starter kit set-up, so I can get my feet wet? I'm sure a thread already exists covering this? I'd eventually like to make my own mixtures as well.

    Thanks!

    ac

Welcome! I read the Gizmodo article- fun stuff! I almost never recommend the ones that look like cigarettes because they're just so expensive in the long run. FWIW I spend about $200-300 a year on DIY juice supplies, and cartomizers- way way way cheaper and better than the prefilled ones.

Here's a link to the Vaping Handbook- poke around the different sub forums, and try not to go crazy with all of the different options!

    Good luck!!!

Thank you! Looks like I need to make a few more posts before I get access to that link.

Just wanted to say, "hello, and welcome." Getting started is kind of confusing. Since people want different things in a ecig, there really is no universally "perfect" starting kit. Reading the threads here is an excellent start, and will help to reduce some initial purchases that you may not be happy with (you will have to experiment a bit at first).

If you want the cigarette like form factor, Smokeless Image Volts are the most highly recommended here. 78mm batteries will last roughly 3 hours of active vaping before a charge, and the cartomizers (combination atomizer heating element and cartridge) are great. You can get prefilled or blank and fill with juice from anywhere.

If you don't mind a larger device, there are Volt X2s, eGo Twists, Kgos, etc. Those can be used with cartomizers or clearomizers (just a matter of which you prefer).

Then there are the large battery options.... lavatube, provari, etc.

Keep reading, look at reviews and get an idea of what you're looking for and want to spend.

    Welcome to the mayhem!!!!

Thanks again all -- I found a vapor vendor in my neck of the woods (which was highly recommended by ECF members), and will be stopping by tomorrow. Update to follow!

I started out with a joyetech 510. It gets the job done and I have not smoked a cig in almost 2 months. I do like how small the joye 510 is, however I find myself having to change batteries about 3 times a day and would rather charge one and it last all day. If i could do it all over again and buy a kit it would be this kit right here KGO batteries 1100mAh It is a very small kit with a battery that will last much longer than the joye510, Sorry the link says its 1100mah its actually a mini ego 350 battery. It comes with everything needed to get started except juice. Check out ecblend.com for cheap juice, so far my favorite from them is ry4- a carmel, vanilla, & tobacco mixture. If you do order from ecblend I would recommend adding the extra flavor option.
