Wonderful story and beautifully told! Feel free to ramble on anytime.
I tried all the methods and then some with no results. I wanted to roll up that patch and light it. I wanted (needed) the nicotine the way I was used to getting it. The thing that e-cigs do for me that the other methods don't is that they duplicate the physical habits. Hand to mouth, drawing in the vapor, etc.
Congratulations and hang in there! It really does get easier each day.

Congrats to you. I haven't bought a pack of smokes since my first kit arrived, I mixed the two over that weekend and while I did cave once or twice because of battery issues I immediately regretted smoking an analog. Woo!
I've tried almost everything to quit too:
Cold-turkey - Fail (went 7 months back in 2002)
Nic Gum - Fail
Nic Lozenges - Fail
Nic patch - Epic Fail
E-cigs - FTW!

Let's hope I stay strong through what's going to be a very tough Monday. Sleep alluded me last night and I'm exhausted. If anything, I picked a perfect time to quit smoking since LA's air is all smoke and ash right now with the fires. Got hit with a lovely face full of that burning air when I got in the shower this morning (bathroom window is always open.)
Just topped off my devices with liquid and I'm ready to hit the battlefield (work)

So far you're doing good. Keep it up. I was also a smoker for 20+ years. Two packs a day. Then I got my PV, and only had 3 analogs over the next 2 days. None since. I still get cravings though, but I know that a lot of it is mental, not physical. How do I know that? Because sometimes when I'm sitting at my computer desk, I find myself reaching for where I used to keep my smokes, without even thinking about it. Funny thing is, I'm using my e-cig when it happens!
Just be aware of the fact, that sometimes, your mind is out to get you.

It is funny that muscle memory is what gets you. The first week or so after I switched to e-cigs I would reach for a cig and lighter when I sat down at the computer or to watch tv. It was like sitting required that extra action
. New muscle memory has taken over and now I reach for my PV.

I made it through Monday without a single analog... I really am going to do this! Today was tough but I still got through it - even with smelling the fresh smoke on a co-worker several times as he returned from his breaks.
Funny, because I knew I wanted to quit so badly but I don't think I really believed this would work. I gave myself an optimistic timeline of a week or two from last week. I guess it was just time.

Awesome! I can't believe it myself. E-cigs are truely been a miracle for me. I had smoked since I was 11, I am 43 now. My mom cried when I told her that I knew I would not go back. God, I hope the tobacco companies die as agonizing a death as they cause their customers! I can't tell you how happy I am for us all! Keep it up!
