I didn't like blu with its stock cartridges cartridges honestly. The hits sucked, it didn't last long. However, after buying some e-juice and filling them myself and dipping when I'm at home, I've gotten better results to where I'm personally satisfied with it now. The blu forum might have some ideas on how to make it perform better.

As far as other min-models, I honestly couldn't recommend any because I'm still pretty new at this. There's a section of forums for vendors. You can check out their websites, find the best prices, post questions about specific models, and go from there.

The RN4081 pretty much sucks, from a newby perspective. It's OK once you learn to drip it. But I would suggest a 501 for you to start. I know I am all over the board in my opinions (semi-newb here too)......But out of the 4 models I own, I have decided that the 501 is my fav and the 4081 just sits there.

i bought a 510 for my first e-cig. its works great, i usually take 4-5 second long drags that arent very hard drags. it works great for me. i also fill my own carts, which works great too.

I would recommend either a m401 like the Dragon from Truesmoker.com or a 510 model from just about any other place, Innovapor.com has a cheap starter kit I believe as does Cignot.com

I bought the Dragon as my first E-Cig and I am glad I did, the 510 takes a day or so to break in and has the terrible taste on that atomizer that you have to get rid of first before you can enjoy it. I think either one of those models would do you well and would be a much better choice for you. If you think you might want to get a 6v mod later then I would advise you to buy a 510 now since that is a highly popular model that is modded while you don't see too many 401 6v mods, I have not seen one in fact.

For your first E-Cig though either one of those is a good choice, as is a k808d cartomizer but you will spend a little more in the long run with cartomizers.

    Retired: Dragon
    , 510, Magnum Mod, KR808D-1.
    In Use: GreenCig, JuiceBox.
