thinking about giving it a try....

i've been reading a lot on this forum the last couple of days and i want to give ecigs a try. smoking for almost 15 years and right now i'm around a carton a week.

i'm trying to figure out a starter pack to order. let me know if this seems reasonable:
-dse901 kit
-extra battery
-extra atomizer or two
-pack of cartidges
-handful of empty cores
-a couple vials of juice

from what i've read, i guess i might need a third (or fourth) battery to get me through a work day. that's when i smoke the most.

ideally i'd love to switch over completely. for the last year i've been making my own cigs which keeps costs down under $20/week. i guess ecigs might be a little more expensive, but if it worked for me well worth it. anybody with a previous pack+/day habit that has switched care to let me know what you spend monthly?

i like the idea of having the ecig hooked to usb power while using it. is janty the only company that has this option right now? (i might just try one of the diy mods if i get that far.)

looks like u got pretty much everything covered in your list to get going. at the moment yea jantyusa would be the place to get a usb powered cig. the diy option is fairly simple for the 901.

Instead of ordering a starter kit with an extra atomizer and an extra battery or two I would recommend getting two starter kits. That way you wind up with two atomizers, four batteries, and (very importantly) two chargers.

Being able to charge multiple batteries at once makes a huge difference, at least in my opinion. My first order was for two starter kits, and I am very glad that I went that way - especially since one of my batteries wound up being flakey and I am waiting on a replacement

I would totally agree with the 2 starter packs if you have the Money. A really good supplier with great Customer service, a 14 day return policy, And test all his stuff before it goes out is Steve at PureSmoker.com - Your #1 Source For ECigs, Parts, & Accessories!. It's really good to just get a generic 901 as your first one so that way if you mess it up it won't cost as much to fix the problem and you won't have to wait too long to get a new one.
I should of got 2 battery chargers or at least one other one when i ordered.
That first 10-12 hour charge is gruelling. especially when you only got one charger to charge them..

i just started vaping about 2 weeks ago. i smoked 1 pack reg cigs a day. for 20 years. i am down to 3-4 a day. the 10 cartridges and one 10ml bottle of ejuice have lasted me thus far, with 1/2 of the bottle still left to top off the spent carts...so it WILL end up being much cheaper. i can tell that i will have no problem with leaving regular smoking totally. esp after i order some new ejuice flavors! and get a penstyle...cuz the mini from puresmoker requires way too much changing batteries, and too much topping off of carts, as much as i vape.

I stopped last week on Monday. I have had a couple of drags since then and I now know that I wont go back.
I get excited about flavours and its nice not waking up with my hair smelling aswell as my clothes.
i love the fact that I dont need a smoke and this has changed in a week and a half. I used to smoke a pack a day (25) and im glad to be rid of analogues

I opted to get the pen style, it doesn't look like a cig, it is maybe not as fashionable (basic colors), but the batteries and cartridges last longer. Not wanting to get stuck without, I got 2 extra batts, and 2 extra atomizers, and decided to go with a usb charger for my 2nd charger.

You will probably get some extra (regular flavor) cartridges included in with your kit, and you can reuse these, with your other flavor liquids, for quite a while.

There are some generic USB batteries (power cables) just coming on the market now... I have seen them listed for the pen style and the super mini. We should see them available "locally" in the very near future!

They are starting to add more tax onto RYO, so you will maybe see more of a price difference shortly. Also, its really nice to not "have" to make cigs all the time!! Whew!!

I would agree with Felspar. I had been making my own cigarettes for the last year or so. I used to make a pack or two every night, but then my office moved, and my commute time went from a 10 minute walk in each direction to an hour-long train ride in each direction. Since I really didn't have a whole lot of time in the evening I would spend most of my day on Sunday making a carton's worth of cigarettes to last me through the week.

This got old really fast.

Since discovering e-smoking I don't have to do that any more. Now if I want an analog cig I dip into my tobacco stash and make one smoke. I usually seem to do this once or twice a day. Quite a drop from my carton a week habit.

Just not having to spend an entire day cranking out cigarettes has been wonderful

for the most part, i've never really minded the inconvenience making cigarettes (except when late for work and didn't realize i was out) which is kinda why i thought ecigs would agree with me. constant battery changing, replacing parts, filling carts, etc.
i noticed on another thread that litecigusa is planning to cary a usb model. hopefully soon?
