Default suggestion on level of nicotene i should use?

right now i smoke a pack a day of regular tobacco cigarettes... if i am planning on buying an e-cig with a disposable atomizer/cartridge i was told that they are almost equivalent to a pack... maybe a little bit less...

my question is what level of cartridges should i buy (low, med. or high), if i used one cartridge a day, that will give me the same amount of nicotine that i am getting now from regular cigarettes?

I am asking this bc i saw on anoher thread about getting headaches from "vapeing" too much nicotene and i just dont want to over due it

sorry in advance if this is a complicated question to answer

well i am kinda new to this, and was smoking the same amount of cigs as you.
i am looking at my e-juice, coca cola flavor, from puresmoker.com and it says "high" so i think its the 36mg nicotine...and that is what i ordered on my new order for more juice. so i personally would choose the high/36mg/fierce or whatever they call it.
the carts he sent me with the starter kit, i think were medium level of nicotine....so maybe 18mg? i dunno...
excited to try new flavors yeehaw!! hurry up steve! cant wait to try the 555 blend and minty menthol!

high is usually 18mg and med 11mg or 16mg depending on supplier. 24mg and 36mg are extra high. Most sensible people on here would probably recommend that you start with low to med carts and see how you feel with them before diving into high doses. That is how overdosing happens.
One cart is NOT one packet of cigarettes equivalent. This is simply not true. Depending whether you are using a penstyle or mini, it is either 5-6 or 3-4...ish. If a supermini, even less.
    Hope this helps.

    Default clarification

    thanks suziq
for that clarification on juice strength and cartridge cig equivalents.

May I suggest that all vapers should know exactly what strength they are using.....

vaping away with complete disregard of the strength of your liquid/juice is the absolute surest way to
    OD.

well i was planning on buying the EAZE magnum from e-puffer. when you order cartridges they come in packs of 5. i had asked earlier and someone told me that each cartridge lasts the equivalent of about 16 cigarettes.

if what your saying is true (4-5 cigarettes per cartridge) than that will add up to be an absurd amount of money ... a pack of 5 cartridges costs $15... 5 cartridges in a pack is $3 per cartridge which would mean $12 for a pack of cigarettes?!?

Disposables are different from refillables, you might get one to last all day.

Here is some information about nicotine that you might find useful - Nicotine safety

Thanks Kate for adding to this. I do not consider myself remotely expert on ecigs and most of what I have picked up has been from you and other informed souls on this forum.

Well your advice above was spot on Suzi, it's just that the disposable atomisers are a bit unusual still and we don't hear a lot about them. I agree about starting low and raising nicotine levels if required.

It really is such an individual thing it's hard to advise people about nicotine. I'm sure some people wouldn't miss it if they still had the routine and hand to mouth thing.

I just started myself and found cartridges a problem as they were way to high for me (18 mg carts, labeled "high"). The easiest way for me was to buy two strengths of e-liguid (11 and 18) plus a vial of glycerine from local pharmacy (costs somewhere around a dollar here, but cheap everywhere) and then experiment by mixing those two strenghts with it. Much more satisfaction that way - plus you can mix just glycerin with some 20% of alcohol and use it as placebo, because new e-smokers tend to smoke the new toy much too much just for the fun of it. So you do not have to stop if you do not want to - just change to a cartridge filled with vapour-producing liquid with the flavouring of your favourite drink and no nicotine at all, which will definitely not give you any overdose.

Just goes to show that I have taken it all in Kate :-)

Frankie, I agree with what you said too, esp. about esmoking too much. The thing is hardly out of my mouth in the evenings when I have free time. I started with 18mg and found that ok, but have gone now to 11mg and cannot really sense the difference at the moment.

I am sure there must be something psychological to the actual puffing away. Seems to satisfy me, anyway. I haven't had a real cigarette for 5 days and it hasn't been at all difficult, even with lowering the dose of nicotine.

Frankie,I see you are still doing well with not smoking by the way. Good for you.
