    Default Hi everyone, advice welcome

    Hi everyone,

New member here, still sucking on my old friends atm, but looking to convert to e-cigs. These sound too good to be true.

I'm a heavy smoker, I smoke 40+ a day, I'm 41 and obviously feeling the effects after so many years of ignoring the rational debate in my mind.

I've tried Zyban, patches, gum, and cold turkey on multiple occasions sometimes combinations of a few at the same time with the same effect. I just don't have the willpower to give them away.

My doctor tells me that I'm wasting my time on patches etc. as they won't supply the amount of nicotine my body is craving for (Well hey at least he shoots straight).

I heard about e-cigs thanks to a member of another forum and was kindly provided a link to this forum. I've had a brief look around and like what I'm reading. I have a few questions, which I could probably answer using the search option, but I'm hoping you can help me out with your own opinions.

The suppliers site I'm looking at getting them from is based in Australia, not sure if I can link it here? They don't provide a "starters kit" so I'm piecing together the order I'd require and hoping you guys can confirm it for me.

I don't want to run out at any stage as I know I will just run to the nearest servo and snaffle up a pack of goodness.

This is what I'm thinking so far:

    (They only sell DSE)

DSE801 (it has the largest amount of inhalations?)
    Carts x 8?
    Atomisers x 2?
    Batteries x 2?
    Charger x 1?

I currently smoke a brand called "Brandon" here, they are a 16mg number with a virginian tobbaco style taste. The flavours available are mostly non cigarette flavours, which I may try down the track, but to replace my current nail flavour, I'm thinking of either their "Lucky Strike", "B&H" or "555/State Express" flavours. Does anyone have experience with these flavours and know the taste/hit I'm chasing?

The high 28mg seems the obvious choice, but should I also grab the 18mg varieties on offer?

The guilt, cost (these are AUD$15 a pack nowdays)and health problems are killing me. I also have 2 children under 5 that I'd dearly like to see grow a fair bit older not to mention smoke around any longer.

Any help and advice would be clearly appreciated.

Hi Solution, welcome to the forum.

The 801 should be a good choice, you'll need 2x atomisers, 2x batteries, charger & cord, 10x cartridges and a bottle of juice to start and see if you like it.

Working out nicotine is a bit tricky, probably the most sensible thing to do would be to start low and go higher if it doesn't satisfy.

    Default try 4 x 4

    Hi new guy
I would advise you to get 4 atomizers and 4 batteries,
when you first start you will suck it to death !!!!!!
so have the first 1 of each as throw aways to suck to death.
    plus of course -
charger & cord, 10x cartridges and a few small bottles ( trial size ) of juice to start and find what you like.

    Default tryin flavors

    Hi guys,

there are several aussies who like the marlboro and the tobacco flavor.
But you will have to try them for yourself,
what I like, paka doesn't, and what billyboy likes I may not, it is all personal taste,

try a few of the - super priced - trial flavor packs from
    our great new aussie supplier
    www.ciggy.com.au
you will find something you like I am sure.

this is wonderful to have our very own supplier
with top quality products and juice.

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi, !!!!
    support your local supplier.

    Di Kerry. True Blue.

when you get your e cig, make sure that it has an initial charge of 8 hours prior to using. ignore the green light on the charger.......it pretty much means nothing. after the initial charge you can charge it as normal for about 2 - 3 hours once battery has depleted.

im very jealous that they have a B&H flavour! ive not seen a UK supplier that sells that..........if anyone knows a supplier in the Uk then tell me please!!

I don't know how much you want to spend initially but I was a heavy smoker too (50-60/day) and I wished I had just ordered 2 complete sets when I started. That way, I would never have had to worry about parts not working and waiting for replacements. I still fight the urge to smoke a lot so that is not a good situation for me.

I carry two full 801's with me everyday; again, so I don't have to worry about something failing then being "stranded". By buying 2 full kits, you would have 2 chargers so you could always have 2 batts on and 2 with you.

As far as nic content....I started with med and that didn't work. Tried 18 and 24, and they didn't work. I now use 36mg because that is the only one that satisfies me.

You will probably have to play around with that a little but eventually you should be able to come up with something that works for you.

I'm not really trying to give advice here....just really telling you that as a heavy smoker too, what worked for me.

    Happy vapin'!

Thank you again for your replies everyone.

I am now waiting on my e-cigs to arrive, I have ordered them through Ed at wwwciggycomau the site you posted (I don't have enough posts to add the link again here) dikerry, billyboy689 also informed me of their existence. He actually told me about this place too, so I'm indebted to you all for being so helpful.

Yes, it's great to have a "local" supplier and even greater for it to be someone like Ed, who obviously isn't just in it for the money. I've had some great conversations with him on the phone and he really knows his products as well being well informed about the current status of e-cigs in terms of perception and acceptability among other issues. With people like Ed I believe we're in good hands.

igetcha I will let you know what the B&H flavour tastes like, it's one of the four initial flavours I've ordered. I hope you're able to find a source over there.

SambucaLu, thank you very much for your post, it gives me hope that I can convert. It's great to have your feedback, as your being an ex-heavy smoker and now e-cigger confirms that it's a viable option. Keep fighting that urge.

Sorry for the late response, this forum was not available for me over the last few days.

good luck mate, im sure you are going to love it! and yes, please let me know what the B&H juice tastes like!

remember to charge the battery for 8 hours on the initial charge before you use it. i know its very tempting to stick it straight in ya gob and puff away but that 8 hour charge will avoid dissapointment. also, if it tastes a bit yucky at first dont worry about it. its just the primer fluid that the factory puts in the atomiser and the taste will pass after a couple of hours (maybe less) of vaping.
