Newbie 510 catridge question
After buying 2 poor quality units I purchased a 510 from AwesomeVapor and am generally happy while I wait for my Protege.
My current issue is that I only get perhaps 10 draws on a filled cart before I get the burning flavor and have to top off again. I have tried the teabag mod which helps, but not much. I also direct drip with a full cart and get only a few more draws.
Is this a normal pattern? I have looked and have not seen posts on this issue.
Thanks for being here. Can't wait for my Protege. Ordered 10/13/09. Just missed first production run.
Smoked 1.5 packs a day for 15 years and haven't had an analog for the week I have had my 510.

You might want to slow down a bit between draws.. giving the cartridge some time to recover. Holding the PV vertical (battery down) will probably also help.... as will "tapping" the PV on a surface like the back of your hand.. tap with the LED end.
My personal experience has been that the stock Joye 510 cartridges don't wick as well as the SLB 901's.... but none-the-less.... I'm still usually able to vape a stock 510 cartridge dry (when they are new).

Read this: Things to know about the new 510 you just received >> it will tell you everything you need to know. How to get rid of the crap taste, how to get the 510 to perform optimally, how to perform maintenance, etc.

The easiest way around this problem (not the cheapest) is to have a bunch of 510s. I do. I have 8 of these things ready to go. I take three/four drags from each one and that's enough.
Of course, when it 'does' come time to top off......well that's what toothpicks and eyedroppers are for.

I started to use fluval a few weeks ago for my cart filler and it seems to wick a little better to me.

I am ready to go to the 504 and sell my 901 inventory. Very close.

I agree with oldtechno. I have 2 and sometimes 3 510's at any one time. The change in flavors I like can be a plus too. Anything you can use as a penholder or just a cup so you can leave the unit with battery end down (even a shirt pocket) will help the liquid wick a little quicker too.

It depends on how deep of a draw you are taking and the frequency, the cart mod and the liquid you are using. What brand liquid are you using?
Sometimes you have to play with the cart mod to get it right. Which PTB method are you using? The PTB has been improved upon a few times. Try this one, it works really well for me - the cart is just about dry before having to refill: PTB Plug Full 510 Cart Or try the fish tank filter material.
You also may need to let the atty rest a bit longer between draws & try a better liquid.
Check out the 510 guide link below, as well.

First of all thanks everyone for the helpful info.
I have been using Marlboro 24mg from Awesome Vapor but have run out and the Post Office in my small mountain town does not do home delivery. If I cannot find some retail I may be SOL.
I usually try to keep the battery down. I have it in a shot glass on my desk and found a piece of clear vinyl tubing installed on the dash of my car holds it upright and to hand.
Still looking for the best filler. Will try some of the blue fishtank reticulated foam next.
Have been vaping pretty steady with 4-5 second pulls. Will try to slow down a bit. Waiting for some VaporTalk Dulcis juice in 16mg along with my mega battery. It will probably be Mon.
Thanks again everyone.
