Apparently, my reaction to the PG is similar to the propellant (dehydrated ethanol) used as a
CFC replacement in the inhalers used for COPD and asthmatics. That nearly killed me, too.

happy to find there is a hopeful alternative to smoking for others. However, maybe someone ought to consider some sort of emergency chat-help-line support for those that may have reactions?

One of you rather rudely asked why I was online instead of calling for "professional" help. You really don't even need to understand my situation to see how cold that was. Perhaps you could make such an immediate judgement if you was able to step out of your personal self-induced fog long enough to walk a mile in my shoes before making such an insensitive statement? That alone, was enough to make me wonder if there are other side effects using the e-cig as such delusions of grandeur and uncivilized behaviour!

I really thought I finally found a support community for my smoking addiction. Evidently, because I was not successful, I do not belong here. But Thanks and best wishes to all, anyway; and try to remember:

    ASSUME NOTHING
    QUESTION REALITY

I agree with the assume nothing part, I really dont think the poster was being rude to you at all. By stating to get professional help I think they meant a doctor. However if you really were as sick as you were stating and typing on line maybe you do need a shrink. Emergency chat line? if you have a medical emergency the chat line to call would be 911 not an ecig forum!

    Martha?
Were you speaking to me? Now I'm confused.
In case you haven't noticed, I am electonically challenged; not just with e-cigs, but especially with computers.

Your comment was much more kind and encouraging, thank you very much.

I am so sorry for having jumped into someone's else's thread during my emergency, and then didn't want to leave everyone hanging in the air after doing so, either. I also don't want to negate e-cigs; but admit I am quite touchy about being judged about my situation.

You're right; I shouldn't give up, if not smoking, then try sticking to the forum. There may be someone to benefit from my experience. I am sure it was a reaction to the PG and not the amount of nicotine. I have had similar terrible effects with a prescription inhaler for my emphysema, to the point of heart attacks and blackouts.

After some rest and recuperation, I can give it another try. Could someone give me a clue how to properly blog? My machine is a totally uncooperative Vista.

CrowDog if your reaction was that intense and bad... even if it COULD be the PG seems like you know it is. You shouldn't vape that anymore. Get some VG and try that if you're willing. Hope you recover well. VG does have some drawbacks (less taste) but more vapor is it's advantage. Plus if you're allergic to PG it's pretty much your only choice. Good luck!

    Thanks Posideon,
Yea, ordered some with starter kit; just never made it that far. Wasn't that concerned with amount of vapor, nor even the taste. Just have tried everything to quit smoking for my health, and cannot do it. I had never heard of e-cigs, and took the gamble. I lost. Have to think it over a lot, if I'll try the glycerin. I have the same problem with (FDA approved) food additives. The next MSG encounter might be the one to do me in.
Surely, there are others that are so sensitive, and could use some help from those that have been there, done that.

The comments and attitudes from Sherid and Brewster 59 are unacceptable. If you choose to question my sanity, that is your right. However, just to qualify as a decent human being, you should keep it to yourself and not spend your precious time by kicking a dying dog.
I have been victimized a lifetime by people like you, and can't afford the type of damage your kind delivers.
I also won't lower myself to play your arrogant mouth game.

Actually I really meant you no disrespect, however I do have to say that anyone that has an allegeric reaction that makes it so they can't breathe and sweating profusely should see a doctor especially if an asthma inhaler almost killed them. You might want to try snus as it is not inhaled and a lot of nic addicts seem to love it. After the reaction you suffered I would think twice before using anything that inhales nic. Glad your ok though.

I honestly thought everyone was nice enough and did not notice an 'arrogant mouth game' going on here.

CrowDog, I think that if you do try it again, perhaps going a little more slowly, you might want to have some antihistamine on hand.
