Default Newbie Introduction (With HUGE Thanks)

    Hi All,

This is my first post here. I'm new to vaping (8 days so far). Actually, I've been lurking here for a long time, and so I already feel like a regular. I just wanted to introduce myself and say THANK YOU to this forum as a whole. I've always disliked online social groups - I could never get the hang of them, and felt silly participating in them. But the members here are so supportive and understanding. Seems like most other forums are brimming over with flamers and petty drama. I like that the posts I read here are civil, even when there's disagreement. You guys are really a model online community.

As for vaping; I got a 2 piece model (disposable cartomizer). I was pretty happy with it, but wasn't getting much flavor or throat hit. I tried dripping stronger juice in PG and VG, but there was no difference.

Less than an hour ago, I received a 510 kit. Holy Moly, what a difference. Definitely more flavor, and a totally satisfying throat hit. I can finally see quitting analogs for good. Wish me luck!!!

BTW How do I get one of those cool signatures that count the days since your last cigarette and add up the savings?

Thanks again for a great forum,

    -Steve

Welcome to ECF, and good luck with quitting the evil smokes! (I love my 510 BTW).

If you see a smoking banner you like, just click on it, most of them link back to the site they came from. You'll need 15 posts before you can post it here (or any sig-line or links)...that said, I proudly display mine of several other forums now.

Steve, You're gonna love your 510. Good luck on quitting (or at least on cutting down) analogs. Just ask any questions you may have; there are plenty of people here who can offer help. Welcome to the forum.

It seems we both went the same way with our thought processes. I haven't really seen any back biting on this forum, and with other forums...well, you already made that point and I agree. I've only de-lurked a little myself. I also went with a 2-pc, immediately sent it back and purchased the 510. Really liking the 510 and can totally see quitting analogs with it. Actually, I like holding my 510 better than a cigarette.

I want one of those signatures too (just for myself even, not only for posts) but I made the mistake (sort of) of not having enough money to buy some juice with it, so I haven't actually quit analogs yet because my carts are dry. I'm looking forward to being able to not use real cigarettes and to have that signature for me. So, I read your post and it felt like an echo of my own thoughts and experiences. Good luck.

    Hey Antha,

I just smoked the last cigarette in my pack a few hours ago. I'm sure I can make it through the night by vaping only, but the real test comes tomorrow morning...

I sure hope I can get through that craving without too much discomfort.

But maybe if I can jump that hurdle, I'll have enough guts to face it again the next day, and so on...

That's the way it's supposed to work. But damn my brain! As soon as I jump one hurdle, I want to reward myself by not jumping the next one!

Blahaha! That's my problem, too! I'm trying something different with vaping, and it seems to be working for me. My method is to not worry about it. The longer I vape, the less I smoke, and the worse the damned things taste. At the rate I'm cutting back, I'll just stop buying them in the next couple of weeks. Also, I make sure to vape immediately after I smoke. That does 2 things (for me):
    1) I notice how much better the vape tastes.
    2) I associate the nicotine fix with the vape, not the smoke.

It seems to be working. Less than a month ago, I was smoking 3 packs of Kools per day. I just smoked something like my 7th analog of the day, and didn't even finish it. I leave a lot of them in the ashtray to burn out, because I just forget about them. They taste awful to me now. Like dry, burning trash. There must be something more addictive in them than nicotine, or I wouldn't even touch one.

That's a great point. #2 especially. I wonder how much of what I think of as the "rush" from my 1st cigarette in the morning is actually just a toxic reaction that I have come to associate with the satisfaction from the nicotine.

I mean, if I weren't addicted to nicotine, and I felt that light-headedness, I would probably be scared to death, like I was suffocating!

After a month of being an analog-free vaper, I still miss that *awake* feeling that analogs provided, but I do wonder if it was really the nicotine that gave me that or the other stuff in analogs that did it. What I don't miss is the morning cough. That was gone within a few days.

Mornings weren't as tough as I thought they'd be early on. I think for maybe 3 days I had this desire for an analog in the morning, but it's amazing how quickly the e-cig became part of my morning ritual. Now I don't even think about having an analog and I don't even feel any urgency to get to my e-cig ASAP either.

    Good luck
Smoke-free since Oct '09 thanks to ecigs!

When I first switched to e cigs I wanted an analog in the morning. Once I switched to 24mg liquid that stopped. As a matter of fact, I don't even do that now. Just use 18mg all day.

Hey quasimod, my parents live in Oronogo, MO just outside Joplin. I grew up in Galena, KS but don't hold that against me! lol

I think you'll make it. Maybe you could reward yourself with doing something fun or buying more vaping stuff.

I never thought of that. That is a great idea.
