I have no prob holding a button, been smoke free since I started vaping last week
That is what I was thinking, but was wondering if there was any reason to get an automatic batt in addition to a manual, as I also have no issue with pushing a button either...

jEsTer says:Hello, here is the same old damn question that all us noobs keep asking, but I can't break the streak!

    Welcome!

I am currently a pack a day Marlboro Lights smoker. I do not care if my e-cig looks like a real cig (actually I kind prefer it doesn't).

    See below...

I think I want decent throat hit, and to begin would like something that tastes close to my Marlboros, but I also know that I will end up going to "flavors" eventually but getting the real cig feel will probably help me make the fulltime switch.

It would seem like that but, actually performance is what makes one switch. If it acts like a cigarette, that's what does it. "Looks", unfortunately for some that have that consideration, has ended up being a suckers play for many. Fortunately, you dismissed that.

I am a mod'er with almost everything I have, so my e-cig will end up being the same. But that being said, I value quality construction and do NOT want to have to mod just to make it do what is supposed to do out of the box...

Good point really. They should stand on their own rather than being a 'solution to a problem'.

Currently I am close to power most of the time, but I do camp/dirtbike/take long Harley rides so long battery is a major plus.

    Again, see below....

Size is not a big factor as long as I can fit it in a front jeans pocket. Finally cost, I am not overly concerned since I plan on keeping with this, and don't want a collection of e-cigs. I would prefer to get one that can grow with me weather that be a mod or off the shelf. Also what may end up being the deciding factor and making all this worthless, is availability. I am leaving on the 15th of this month for a trip to CO, and need to have it before then!

    [/quote]

With what you've said I'd say go right to this:

    WHOA NELLIE! New Vaping toy!

    510, 901, 801 Box Mods
    cybervex@gmail.com

    The 'bartleby' which is a mod'ed nicostick and it adds some features that you'll like. It has an on/off switch so when you put it in a pocket you can't accidently press the button. And it has a mini usb port to be used as a passthrough - ie with a charging cord (not provided);

    Amazon.com: Cables To Go - 27005 - 2M USB 2.0 A/Mini-B Cable (Black): Electronics

... you can hook it up to a usb wall plug or a car plug:

Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.
    top 2...

... which you could use on your bike.

Only thing is that the box mod doesn't come with an atomizer or cartridge, so.... highly suggest getting 510 starting kit anyway:

    Joye 510 NO BOX

cheapest no box kit and fast shipping. You can use the attys and carts on the mod above.

Also while you're there get some juice:

    Suggest:
    ECOpure juice

Ecopure enhances vapor. Rich is good by itself or mixed with:

    PG:
Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.
Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.
    VG:
Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.

Get a small bottle of 24mg of something just in case you aren't getting enough nic. You might only need a drop or two on a top off. But it might keep you from buying cigs. :-)

    ^ HOLY DETAILED POST BATMAN!!

I've only tried a few, both from NHaler.com, but the tobacco flavors don't taste much like tobacco to me. My RY4 juice tastes like sugar or cotton candy and my Nhaler Marlbro juice tastes like grape. I like to use the RY4 to sweeten up my coffee flavor

But then, maybe that's just my messed up, burnt out taste buds.

Whoa! Kent, thank you for an extremely helpful and detailed response! The Bartleby looks like it would suit me perfectly! Unfortunately I think Cybervex is having battery delays and might not be able to meet my Nov 15th deadline. So I might need to go ahead and get a 510 kit as well. I guess I can look at it as having a "backup" although I am trying to avoid having a collection of e-cigs like so many on here have... As for using it on the bike, I have to install a cigarette lighter, but it wouldn't hurt to have a 12v accessory hookup. And finally, any advice on the "24mg of something"? the descriptions on the site aren't very descriptive...

Once again thanks for all help!

Welcome. The bartleby does meet many of your considerations and it is a good performing mod. As for the cig lighter - with a 900mAh batt you really wouldn't need one - I get a day and a half from one charge but I'm vaping other stuff as well, but it would go a day, imo.

As for the '24mg of something' we're talking 'tastes' and that's so subjective and varies from one person to another that unless we already knew a flavor we both agreed on, (ie giving some indication we're tasting the same thing) then suggestions are crapshoots. I'll just say that the main tobacco based stuff is pretty good. See this post for what I get from the standard tobacco flavors:

    Flavour recommendations please

    Just to experience both.

I prefer auto. I'm just to lazy to always have to push the button. Many prefer manual.

Well due to my time constraints, and the sage advice received from this site, I ordered a 510 from Cignot. I also some empty carts as well as rich, Menthol, and Mango in 5ml and 20 and 25mg nicotine. So I will have this to play with, and then when I get back I can see if I want anything different. I will do some searching, but does anyone know if there is a DIY external battery charger setup for the 510? I have an iPower Pro Po-Go battery pack that I use for powering/charging all my electronic devices due to the numerous adapter tips that come with the device. So I am hoping I will be able to use this for my new (as soon as I get my order) e-cig habit...

Kent, once I get some experience under my belt we can revisit my earlier post.

    Thanks!

My 510 charger accepts 12-24VDC input as well as 100-240VAC. Many possibilities.

Sure, Brad, feel free to PM me on any questions. If there's a usb port on the batt pack, you'll need a passthrough to be able to vape off of it. Output has to be 5Volt and preferably 1amp but 800ma will do.

You can get a passthrough at many places. Here's some that could ship quick:

    510 Passthrough

freshsmoking.com too but they are under a change to credit cards not finished yet.
Hmmm. RockyMt.Vapors is out of stock.

    Anyway, using this:

    Joye 510 USB Charger

...you could charge a 510 battery from the batt pack or any usb port including the wall plug and car plug linked in my first note.

Yes my PO-GO battery does have a 5v USB out, so the passthrough would be ideal. I was just hoping there was a DIY method. I am a bit of modder/hacker/techie at heart, and hate paying a premium for something I could build myself. But if the 510 uses a proprietary power input then I guess I have no choice...
