Also new and in need of sound advice
Good Evening,
After reading various posts for hours I am still not 100% sure of my best option because I am working with cost vs. convenience vs. chances it will work for me, vs. closest to what I am smoking now.
To help you (kind people) help me I will just offer up a bit of info on me.
I am 33 yrs old and smoking socially and on the down low for over 15 years. I really want to get off the unhealthy stuff so this is what prompted me to decide to become an e-cigarette smoker. I only smoke when I drink and even then about 6-10 that night. In a month I will smoke less than 2packs and sometimes much less. I think I like the menthol more than anything as well as the whole smoking thing; holding something, blowing smoke, etc.
I am also not the best at high maintenance things.
Please help advise me on the product for me so I can start my New Year's off right.
I REALLY appreciate the help.
Thanks.

My recommendation is a DSE901. Can be had for $40-$50 from a reputable dealer. Since you will primarily be using away from home I recommend at least 1 extra battery. You will also want to get a bottle of e-liquid for refills.
If you are looking for menthol e-liquid (at least in the US) I recommend Puresmoker's. Theirs is actually "menthol" and not just mint flavor. There may be other suppliers with the real deal, but this is the only one I am personally aware of.
This should be more than enough to get you going comfortably and let you decide if it's gonna work for you.
If you decide you want to go full time, you should pick up an extra atomizer, more e-liquid, and another battery (I find having 4 in rotation keeps me alive)

Have you at least narrowed down your choices? Such as preferred size, length or colour maybe? Price range?
I would usually recommend a penstyle for beginners.

Thank you
Thank you both for your help. I think I will go for the one you so kindly broke down for me. I will just have to give it a go and hope that this is the product for me

As someone who is also a lite smoker I would recommend getting a no nicotine bottle of juice in addition to a bottle of medium liquid. I found this thing so fun to use that i vap a lot more than i used to smoke. I switch to the no nicotine juice after i got my fix to prevent myself from becoming more addicted than i had been before.

That is good advice MODEL77. I would recommend no more than 16mg strength for a lite to regular smoker. In other words, I feel like with the increased frequency of e-smoking compared to analog, 16mg or less approximates the nicotine intake you might have been getting from cigs. Any more and you risk increasing your dependance on nicotine.

Both good points MODEL77 and Jaaxx. Sounds like a good idea for me.

If your nicotine intake is that low I would consider using a lower strength cartridge/juice. 16mg may make you a bit dizzy!
Also if it's just for the night out here and there, why would an extra battery be required. I'm sure the 2 that came with a starter kit would be more than adequate for your requirements.

You're welcome, Rowena. Glad that you found an e-cig most suited to your needs. Do let us know how it goes.
