People often make fun of what they don't understand. I wouldn't worry about it.

I tend to think that people just tend to mock things they are really not interested in. For example, I have mentioned the ecig to a couple of people at work who I know have tried to quit smoking in the past. They pretty much scoffed at me and obviously did not want to know more about it.
My brother, on the other hand, came by one day and said he wanted to quit smoking for New Year but didn't know how he was going to stick with it as he has tried it several years in a row with no luck. I had not told him about it for fear he'd think it was just another one of my "hairbrained ideas" (lol) but right at that moment, I showed him mine. He's been a convert ever since.
When I told my daughter (a non smoker), she was so happy for my effort, she offered to buy me "parts"...lol
Ironically, my 2 sons, who both smoke but not as much as me, brushed me off.
Lack of interest can really make people rude and critical (I think anyway).

Most ppl laugh just because its something new and they are not used to it. I just laugh back at the smokers and ask why they would purposely put all that tar in their lungs. Well just see who's still laughing in 40 years........ill still be around

Hmmm. All we've experienced is fascination, wanting suppliers names or indifference.
