37 days into this vaping thing...
and I thought I should share my success story with y'all... maybe "rally the troops" who aren't so sure they can stop smoking! So here it goes:
My quit date was 3 days after I received my 510 starter kit from cignot.com. I rationed my last handful of cigs so that my quit date would coincide with my daughter's 8th birthday. Oct 8th, I handed her the empty pack and asked her to do the honors of throwing away my LAST pack of cigs...I quit. She hated my smoking so needless to say this was the best possible gift...except for maybe the karaoke machine and possibly all the Hannah Montana crap, LOL. I guess for me the added dramatic effect seems to have worked out pretty well
After my first few days came the dreaded learning curve
.
E-cigs quickly went from being the greatest thing since sliced bread to the biggest pain in the a$$ ever. ***You must not give up when you reach this part*** or you'll miss the best part of the trip...figuring out how to work these sumbiches! Now that I know how to properly use and maintain my "sumbiches" I cannot imagine going back to analogs.
When I first started, my opinions were way different than they are now. I wanted a cigarette-looking device and nearly went with the auto batteries...luckily I read a lot of posts here before I ordered. I thought the pre-filled cartridges were gonna be great...just plug-n-play baby....WRONG again. It's all about the JUICE and finding the flavors that hit the spot for you is the new quest. I have found the best juice is the High Voltage juice from nhaler.com. The flavors are excellent and the vapor production is extremely nice. They are made to withstand the higher voltages of modded devices but they still work great in my 510.
Another important detail is changing the cart material...the stock filler can give off a nasty burnt taste. I have been pleased using the Lipton Pyramid tea bag filled carts. There's a bunch of how-to's posted here and on youtube explaining how to DIY. Or you can get them already done for you from Cignot.com...that's what I did (yeah, lazy me!)
After a few weeks I began to get tired of changing batteries non-stop and I looked into "the mods." My new opinion was "I don't care what it looks like, just bring on the vapor!" Everyone seemed to be talking about killer vapor and throat hit at higher voltages. This started to sound pretty good to me after sucking the life out of my 3.7 volt 510 to get that BIG drag. I took the plunge and got a Silver Bullet from AltSmoke which uses larger, longer lasting and more powerful rechargeable batteries. Wow
, what a Major difference...I actually prefer the hit from this SB at 6 volts way more than a long cigarette drag. I also just ordered an XHaler mod which just came out from nhaler...similar to SB, but will also do 5 volts which is supposed to be perfect for the best flavor and vapor combination. *note to self: do not buy any more mods please*
I can truly say that I am a "happy" vaper now. I've got a box on my desk with my favorite nhaler juices which I've pre-loaded into separate cart/atty sets. I just go down the line taking a few hits off each flavor...RY4, French Vanilla Coffee, Drewbacco, 555, Kent, Butterscotch and 555 Menthol...can't wait to taste the Cafe Mocha Tobacco I ordered with the XHaler!
So this is how I got off analogs and I'd feel bad if I didn't take the time to share it. After all, if it weren't for the posts I read here at the beginning I may not have made it this far! I chose to use the "mods" and this may be the only way for some folks to get that KICK they miss from analogs. If the standard e-cigs are working for you...great. I would probably still be happy enough with my plain ole 510 to stay off cigs. I smoked a carton a week for nearly 30 years and if I can do this I believe anybody else can too. Keep reading and learning from this forum and DO NOT be afraid to ask questions. People here tend to be very friendly and helpful.
I apologize for getting so long-winded, but if you're still reading...TYVM!
My best wishes for success go to you all,
Ed

Same story
Your story sounds alot like mine. I've been vaping for about a month now. I got a 510 kit from cignot and havent smoked since. I tried quitting many times but this is the longest and I feel no urge to go back. Much more sophisticated in my opinion which definately adds to the affect. I think I'm definately gonna make it with this method of quitting, already been able to drop my nicotine level to roughly 10mg. Wish I found this earlier

I can't tell you how many times I've had the exact same thought.
Great to hear you made it a month too!

Congrats on dumping analogs,
After 3 mths, I don't mind saying that i love an analog 2 or 3 times a week. I can't explain why I never got to that place where I 'hate' the notion of smoking but not there yet. Vaping is vaping but still addicted here. Maybe one day those things will taste 'nasty', not yet though.

I was able to quit Aug 22 with these and have since been dropping my nic levels to below 6mg now. Today I even made my first blend of juice using vanilla and almond extract with VG found at Hobby Lobby and I cut it with Crown Royal! The adventure continues....

Yep there is a learning curve but it's worth it. I said that like a veteran. More like a month and a half. I'm still learning although I hope I am 3/4 of the way up the curve.
As I said in another post this is a great forum with moderators who do a really good job. Bye Legion.

So how'd it taste?
I haven't gotten so far as making my own juice, but I just recently found the Wilton VG at Hobby Lobby
$2.18 for a 59 ML bottle in Baton Rouge store. Now I can stretch my juice a bit further while lowering nic level too. The nhaler HV juice is only 12 MG, but most of juices I got before that are 18 MG and I'm cutting those down now.

Same here. That first cup of coffee inthe morning is particularly rough.
