I would start out with a 1/16" drill bit if I was so inclined to rebuild a protank, depends on what wire you are using and the ohm's of the build you want. A 5/64" bit would work too. All depends what you have to work with.
    P.S.: the cat bites!
    and the chinchilla too!!

For all my tanks that I have been vaping with, I always use a 3/32' drill bit. Takes awhile to drill through but when finished, the air flow is incredible and brings vaping to a whole new level. I also wrap mine with 28 gauge kanthol and wrap to have a subohm experience.

I use 1/16 drill bit and cotton wick with a tiny flavor wick on top. I have found that if I use the larger 5/64 drill bit, it shorts out when I replace the top chimney on the head. I do 5 wraps on the 1/16 using 32 gauge which gives me 1.7 Ohms on every build. I don't use 28 gauge wire, because I find that it "eats through" the rubber insulator too quickly.

I use 16 or 15 gauge finishing nails. They're right between 1/16" and 5/64" and they are a nice fit in the slot of a protank head.
