Default newbie trying to sort things out

So this is my first post here.

I read through most of the thread about suppliers to avoid which was quite interesting.

I decided to get started by trying the npro from a local gas station on friday due to getting married on saturday and wanting the ability for a quick hit of nicotine to calm nerves when I didn't have time for an actual cigarette. I'd say they aren't bad, but I'm not so satisfied with the nicotine I get from them.

In sitting here reading for a few hours today I took several drags off it and after taking a break from reading I broke down and had one cig. My wife (of 2 days, still getting used to calling her that) still smokes them and I make them for her from tobacco and tubes I buy.

The thing to me that's strange is I hadn't had a regular cig today and when I had that one I got a nicotine buzz that was like I hadn't had a cig all day which I thought was odd considering I'd been using the npro for the last few hours.

Does this mean I'm not getting the amount of nicotine from it that I'm used to with regular cigarette's?

Anyway, I ordered some fluid from puresmoker this morning. Hoping that gives me a more palatable flavor. Got some npro menthols to tide me over till the liquid gets here.

Another question is are there any ecigs that are the size of an actual cig? The size of the npro makes it awkward to hold as I would a reg cig. Either that or my fingers are just weak. lol. I know I'm going to have a concession in regards to both battery life and the length of time a cartridge would last, but I think if I get a better flavor with something more similar to what I'm used to that might help.

Also, generally I smoke camel filters if I don't make my own smokes. How many drags on 18mg ecig is the equivalent of one cig? Has anyone experimented with going with a lower strength ecig and taking more drags to simulate the length of time it would take to smoke a real cigarette? I just don't find it as satisfying taking a few drags and putting it down. I tend to find myself taking several drags on it and I'm not sure if I'm taking in way more nicotine that I would be on a regular cig.

    Thanks,
    Tom

Hey Tom, I'm kinda a newbie myself. Only been vaping for a week and a half. From all I've read there is no real empirical evidence to know how much nicotine we are actually getting absorbed while vaping. Suggestions are it is much less than from a single inhale of an analog.

I started with mostly 11-18 mg juice and I still had analog cravings. I got some 24mg juice in the other day and that seems to have done it for me. I definitely feel a buzz now, and don't feel the same constant craving for an analog.

I was wondering the equivalence of the 24mg on how many drags is the same as a marlboro red.. i just got mine in the mail today, around 5 hours ago.. since getting it have only smoked one cig. usually would of smoked at least 10.

The M403 and similar models are about as close to analog size as it gets. Remember smaller models have smaller carts and smaller batteries.

The reason that you get a hit from an analog like that is the suite of monoamine oxidase inhibitors and alkaloids in cigarettes which are absent in e-liquid. Also cigarettes contain amonia creating a crack nicotine effect, so that it hits you harder than nicotine alone does.

I don't think there is any set way or standard...we just have to experiment and find our own "level" and what satisfies us.

I probably vape a bit more than I smoked (24mg nic juice does the job for me).
