Default Switching flavors - use same cart and atty?

Hey all! I'm about to order my first e cig kit and have been stalking this forum about a week learning as much as I can (you guys rock by the way). I want to buy as many extras as I'll need, but still not sure. I think I read once (here or elsewhere) that you should dedicate a single atty and cart to one liquid flavor. I'm not worried about buying tons of empty carts because they're cheap (and will prob use the straw-plug mod for extended life), but should I really plan on using one atty for each different flavor I vape? If not, then do I just clean it out between flavors (using techniques described here on the forum). Suggestions and wisdom please? Thanks a ton!

You don't need a different atty for each flavor. I just blow out the previous juice before switching flavors and add a couple drops of the new flavor directly on the bridge of the atty. You might still get a hint of the previous flavor but it will burn away in no time.

It helps to keep flavors from mixing, but it's not necessary. Some flavors (like mint or menthol) are really tenacious, and come through even after you clean everything, but others aren't a big deal.

Attys don't last forever, so it's not a huge extra expense to have dedicated attys for different flavors (unless you abandon a flavor, you'll be using up those attys eventually). But it does add to the initial outlay, so you might want to try re-using attys on different flavors to see if it bothers you before going whole-hog on separating out the attys.

I think it mostly a matter of personal preference. In my experience most of the flavors don't contaminate the next flavor much with some exceptions, namely menthol and an overpoweringly strong homemade batch or raspberry I made. I personally use one atty until it dies usually don't clean it at all and I rarely even change carts, I just top them off and drip on the atty so I have no problem mixing flavors. Plus some flavors mix with others quite well such as cream and RY4 or vanilla with just about anything.

Some vapers go the exact opposite and have a single atty per flavor with dedicated carts and NEVER mix liquids other than when making a custom DIY liquid.

My starter kit was ok, but I am upgrading as soon as the post office delivers my PV today or tomorrow, so from experience, I would recommend to not go overboard on buying too many attys at first (is there such a thing as too many attys?). Make sure you get a few backups, but you may find that you don't like the device you're purchasing and want to switch to one with a different atty. Then you'll end up having a bunch of extra attys that you don't use sitting around.

If you want to experiment a bit with keeping the flavors pure vs. mixing if you only have a couple juices, your backup attys are sufficient to play around with to see which you like better. The worst case scenario would be that you may have to clean a few attys if you don't like mixing. After a good cleaning, I've never tasted a mixing of flavors.

I use the same atty for 555, RY4 & Virginia, none of them are particularly potent flavours, so they don't stick around long (I do use different carts for them though).

I use a seperate atty for my Eco Pure stuff because it is VG based and I tend to mix it with toffee and caramel.

I also use a seperate atty for menthol - As Brachinus said, it will take over an atty and dominate any other flavours. That stuff really does need it's own atty

I basically use 3 flavors (menthol, cappuccino and a French pipe). Since they don't mix well, I've found tiny star stickers in 6 or 8 different colors and use a green one on my menthol atty, yellow on the cap and red on the French pipe. They stay on a long time, and keeps me from having to clean out flavors by making refilling mistakes.

The stickers were Stickopotamus (Walmart), .99 if I remember right.

and guys can use the tiny round ones for color coding office files. Don't remember what they are called.

Thanks all, great advice! I was planning on buying extra attys as backups but I didn't want to go overboard in case I didn't like this model. Great tip on the menthol too. I'm currently a menthol analog smoker and was definitely planning on buying that flavor to make the transition easier. Glad to know I should use one atty strictly for that flavor. Thanks again!

Another flavour to watch out for is fennel it hangs on in there for grim death and taints anything else you try to vape.

Rinsing with water did not get it out of the atomiser either, had to soak it in coke overnight before it was gone.

I would imagine aniseed is the same but after experiencing the fennel I have not been brave enough to try it.

yeah.... i agree with a seperate atty for strong flavors... funny story. I decided to mix my own juice one day 0 nic. so i go get some glycerin (pg) and I got a few LorAnn's flavorings. I tried the butter rum first as it just smells soooo good. but i guess i didnt use enough as i couldnt really taste it... so next i went with a stronger flavor, raspberry! used a good bit more. but still wasnt quite strong enough. so i decided to move on to a stronger flavor yet still. PEPPERMINT OIL!!!!!! i went 50/50 with this one.... on the first hit I thought i was gonna cough up my shoes! and i could taste it for the next 3 days... it has been 2 weeks and i still cant get that out that particular atty! next is a vodka bath for the atty to see if i can get it to go away.... but the atty isnt dead yet. coincidentally i found a good number of things that peppermint mixes well with
