I'm new and can't choose disposable carts vs. ...not
hi, all!
I've been browsing these forums non-stop for the past few days and I think I'm more confused and sad than when I first heard about e cigs.
first of all, from everything I've read, there are problems with every design and it's just not a perfect technology right now... so that automatically makes me wary...
BUT
like all of you here, I'm way too excited about the prospect of not smoke cigarettes and all the tar and junk associated (though who really knows what that vapor does, right? also a worry. still can't be worse than regular smoke... I hope).
so I'm trying to decide if
A) an e cig is for me (I'm not a terrible heavy smoker. most days it's five a day, but if I'm out and drinking I can go through a pack easy) considering how new the technology is or if I should wait until they've got a good system down (which could take a long time). it's mostly a cost issue, since I roll my own and that's pretty cheap.
B) if I should go for something like smoke51 or green smoke (same thing) and deal with cartridges which are limiting and costly but get new atomizers every time or get something like the npro or janty (kissbox or mini fogger) and deal with changing atomizers and drip (which I'd probably suppliment the disposiable cart with).
I mean, these are questions you all probably asked yourself before you purchased your first e cig.
what were the deiciding factors for you? looks? feel? cost? warranty? they're all important, really, but all differ.
I'm also considering the pink DSE901 from ecigs.co.uk since they have good pricing and I could get just about everything I wanted (plus a case!) for the same price as other kits + carts, juice.
grar.

For your first tryst into the e-cig world I would recommend a generic pen style or a DSE901. If your attached to the pink 901, Steve at puresmoker.com has it, and he's great to work with. Don't start off with just the cig. I would also get an extra battery, atomizer, at least 10 carts, and a bottle of juice for toping off. There are some excellent sellers on this site. I have purchased from puresmoker, litecigusa, and thesmokesafe, all good guys and they get my repeat busniess. All are located in the U.S.
Hockey never left Chicago, but it has returned.

I went to puresmoker and almost all the 901s were out of stock. I wasn't sure when they were going to restock, but then, I'm not sure when I'll buy, so I definitely have that page bookmarked.
I'm not particularly "attatched" to any one style, but I'm not sure how I feel about the pen styles. I know they have better battery performance and bigger carts, but I'm not sure I really need that, I guess. I think it would help to see and hold one in person, you know?

I emailed Steve at Puresmoker yesterday as I'm looking to try out a few other things (just started e-cigs with a mini from Steve on Monday). He said he was expecting to have more stuff on Thursday or Friday. I would imagine that there's a bit of a Customs backup coming off the holidays...I all too familiar with getting stuff imported.

If you're going to be getting spare parts you may as well get 2 kits of the same model (doesn't have to be the same color).
1 kit from Puresmoker, $49.95
Extra atomizer, $9.99
Extra battery, $14.99
Extra charger, $10.99
Extra cart pack, $4.95
_______________________
..............$90.87
With the extra kit you get all those extras plus one more battery and 1 more cart pack (1 with the kit and one as a bonus with the kit).
That's $19.94 in spares for $9.95 more out of pocket. Plus 2 kits gets you free shipping saving even more.
I like my pens (just got them), but I also don't mind holding some pretty big pipes and I smoked 100's.
It's been forever since I used those nicotine reduction filters but that's about what a pen is like but heavier.

Battery life on the 901 should be ok for you as you say your generally a light smoker (5ish a day). With both batteries fully charged you should be all set for a night out.
Vaping may not be for everyone so to preserve cash flow a little, maybe a 901 starter kit and a small bottle of liquid to top off with is enough to let you try it out. Test drive it for a day or 2 and if it works out for you the extra spares can be purchased.
Good luck and welcome to our humble abode

Just a few thoughts- You sound like a very light smoker, and at the risk of sounding like on old grumpy man I would say “stop now before you are strongly addicted”, of course that is not the question you ask.
In many ways e-cigs are not ready for prime time. You do have to fool around with batteries, atomizers, juice and carts. If you like gadgets it is not bad, but I think a lot of people will be turned off by them.
One thing you might consider if you do order the 901 for example: You can get empty cartridges and smoke juice in lots of different flavors. Maybe if you try cola, or cherry flavor with 0 nicotine, you will enjoy the e-cig without worrying about increasing your addiction. Puresmoker
does have 0 nicotine juice and 4mg juice. If you check around the other suppliers also offer 0 nicotine juice, but I am not sure about the extra low 4 mg juice.

That's very good advice. If you are going to e-vape then try not to increase your nicotine levels. Zero can be just as satisfying to puff with if your dependence isn't strong.

I agree with kate, if you are a light smoker get either super-low, or no nicotine. Or get both and alternate until you're completely off nicotine. I was a very heavy smoker, so the e-cig is a natural for me, but if you are a light smoker you could end up getting even more addicted to nicotine in it's purest form.

oh, yeah. low and no nicotine carts/liquid was definitely what I was thinking. maybe do the low nicotine carts for a while, then try the no nic carts/liquid and see if I can tell a difference.

I mean, I'd love to be able to stop smoking, but I just LOVE the actual act of smoking, so in that way, I think e cigs would be good for me. I certainly don't want to tar up my lungs any more than they already are. I haven't even been smoking all that long. it was actually six years ago this month when I started.
I've been considering the cost difference between buying two kits at once or buying one and some extra parts... not sure which way to go, though. there are so many things to consider!
