Default Funny taste ??

I have been vaping now for about 4 hours (not continually, trying to keep it just like cigs), but I am noticing a peculiar taste in the mouth. Hard to describe, a bit like organic chemical/rubber is the closest I can set it to.
Is it because the atomizer is new and will this wear off in time, or is this the normal taste?
I am obviously comparing it to tobacco smoke, but it is nothing like this.
Am I expecting too much in the first trial of this.

I seriously want to give it a go, but the taste is off-putting.

Try puffing out like a pipe for a while. You may still have some primer in there. You are going to waste a bit of your cart but try that. Post what you are using

Thanks usehername.
I am using 18mg nic in a RN4072 (if that means anything to you)
Had I read this forum first, before rushing into it, I would have considered the acclaimed 901, but hey, us men know best.
Your help is much appreciated, thanks

It's probably the primer that comes on a new atomizer. One thing you can try is to take out your cartridge and squeeze a couple of drops out of it, directly onto the atomizer coil. Then puff away. It might make that taste go away faster. Just a couple of drops though. You don't want to soak it.

When I started vaping, I was using it like I would a regular cig. I noticed a nasty taste too after a while. I finally figured out why. I vaped my cart. to death (Smoking it dry) Wheeeeew! Try using a new cart and see if that remedies your problem and it's a good idea to get some juice for dripping

I'll give that a try, Gabby.
What is the primer that is on it? Is it oil or something?
Many thanks

I don't know what it is. I just know everyone complains that it tastes bad at first.

It's also true your cart could be getting dry. Pop it out and look at it. Sometimes I'll see a thread or two sticking out of there and that bad taste is because they are sort of burning - not hot enough to truly burn them, I don't think, but it gives a bad taste, sort of like burning hair or something. Yuck!

Expectations might be high as well. So far there is no real tobacco taste. It should remind you of tobacco. I dont see why they bother to name flavors after specific brands of cigarettes. It really gets your hopes up.. I'll quote myself from another thread regarding this "new" taste:
I think you just have to adjust to a flavor. Just like your first cigarette none of this is actually yummy. If you are smoking analogs with e-cigs you will still be comparing the two and attempting to match the taste of your favorite brand. I would bet that if you give any one flavor (that does not make you puke) about a week, you will become familiar with it and eventully like it. I smoke a regular cigarette once a week and that first puff just about does make me hurl. After about three puffs my brain seems to remember why I liked to do this so much. I am sure if I went a whole day smoking real cigs, my e-cig would not taste good again. I try not to switch around from flavor to flavor for this very reason. I am in it for the nic and nothing more. In short, I bet if I trained my dog to bite me in the ass 14 times every half hour for 30 years I would probably learn to like that too.

That's true. It doesn't taste the same at all. However, the first thing my husband and I noticed with e-cigs was a sweet taste, not a burning chemical taste, so that's why I figured this issue was a new atomizer.

When I smoked analog cigs I only noticed the full flavor on the first few of the day or after eating. After 8 or 10 I never noticed the flavor. What I do miss is the smell you get when you open a new pack of smokes.
