So.............. I've tried again to with clean fresh carts (from different companies), clean atomizers, clean batteries to try to recreate the horrible taste. Same conclusion. My taste buds just don't agree with JC carts.

I received this response from Christian at JC (awesome, super-fast response too! ), "This is a rubberized and heat-resistant glue that binds the 'wool' together and is common among esmoking cartridges. Unfortunately I do not know what the chemical makeup of this glue would be but I do not believe it to be a potential hazard of any kind."

The best way I can describe my findings is this... Not everyone is allergic to kiwi seeds, but I am. I think the same thing is happening here.

I'll still be doing business with JC because I think they are an outstanding company with great service and products... I just won't be buying anymore carts from them.

Sun and Cage, thanks for all the great ideas, advice, and your findings as well. YOU are AWESOME!!

I had a similar thing with mine after a while noiticed the cart deformed. I never let the atomiser get too hot and after using the dripping technique it went away. If you want a major throat hit melting plastic gives one akin to smoking cs gas.

I just had a cart. I filled it, topped it off and no vapor. There was a little 'white' spot where the heating coil touched the wicking material. I tried a different atomizer and battery and same problem.

I didn't think it was the cartridge. I pulled out the wick and saw a thick flat layer of this white rubber like glue at the bottom. I fished it out with a paperclip and everything is working fine now. This was a prefilled cart.

I wonder how much of a problem this is?

I just noticed this on my newer penstyle carts as well. It's white adhesive of some sort that is holding the material in the cartridge.

What the hell is this? Elmer's glue? Wood glue?

What purpose does it serve? I reuse my cart material so when I take it out to give it a rinse, I cut this "adhesive" crap off of it.

I think I'll start a whole new rant in a new thread. I'm getting pretty fed up with the whole thing.

I touched base 2 months ago with Johnson Creek about this white "Glue" and they confirmed that it is a rubber based glue to hold in the polyester batting. Please members--just go our and buy a roll of polyester batting at Walmart or any fabric store and stop wasting your money on buying blanks--It is the same thing-and cheap as hell---7 bucks for a 5 foot roll that will last you a year--Hope that helps--Sun
