glue in the cartridges causing "burnt tire" taste... in The E-Cigarette; Hi there, I'm fairly new to e-cigs (a little over a week), and I must say it is the best ...

I don't have any JC carts, but I did get that burnt taste on regular supplier carts when I first started. It was always from letting the cart get too dry/atomiser too hot.
I never get it now because I keep the carts moist.

Hmmm...
Process of elimination is what I would suggest.
1. Clean your atomiser and use a different cart (non JC) to ensure the burnt tire taste is gone.
2. Then switch to a JC cart and keep it topped off with liquid.
3. Let us know the results.

You know, I have the same issue with my E-Cigar Carts. They also have some rubber type glue that holds the wool in place. I get that nasty burnt taste if I let my atomizer get too hot. All of my carts are from NJoy (imagine that). I always wondered about that glue. I just ordered some new carts from Puresmoker. I hope that their stuff doesn't have that glue in it.

Have scene the "alleged" Glue and am going to make Inquiry
I have 2 orders from Johnson Creek at 50 blanks per order as Puresmoker was out of them. Although I have only used a few, I have not had any burnt taste. I have noticed what you are talking about with the alleged "glue" when you pull the core out. I have also noticed that the poly core is not as dense as Puresmoker's and also does not give as snug a fit into the atomizer. I am going to e-mail them and find out what the scoop is as these are different then any I have used before for my penstyle---I hope it is not "glue" and will update when I hear from them--Sun

I have successfully tried all three suggestions listed here in the past couple days (and others...) this is how I came to the conclusion (and through process of elimination of using other methods) that it was the JC carts that gave me the funny taste.
I have carts from puresmoker and from e-smokey treats - no issues at all. (thank goodness!!!) Also liquids from JC and puresmoker. Liquids definitely not an issue.
I think that JC had great customer service, quick delivery, and great products. I'm hoping that this is simply related to my own tastebuds. I'm just very curious as to what they are using as "glue". I'll let you guys know when I hear back from them.

I gave it a real "cooking" and No Burnt Taste at all
O.K.--I just place a new filled Johnson Creek cartridge in my penstyle and gave it a good "cooking" and got no burnt taste. I noticed that I was able to get more e-liquid in them (1.5 ml as opposed to 1.1ml) I think maybe the core not being so dense allows for more aborbtion which is a good thing. I still do not know, what appears to be a "little white of tape", is when you pull the cartridge out but it is not sticky. I am sure Johnson Creek will give us a response as their customer service has always been great. As for the fit in my atomizer, they fit snug with several of them and loose with others, but I am now thinking that that may be a function of the atomizer and not their cartridges as the cartridges are all the same size. The hole in the atomizers do run inconsistant as some times I have to shove in hard Puresmoke's and other times they are just snug--so IMO that goes to the atomizer. Anyway, after a good "cooking" I am getting no burnt taste--that is usually an atomizer issue due to the battery cleaning clycle or in the alternative running the cartridge too dry so be sure you have loaded up on the juice (wet but not pooling otherwise you will flood your atomizer)--Happy Vaping--Sun

I really am starting to think it's my taste buds... I originally figured it had to be the atomizer, the battery, the liquids. The last thing I honestly thought it could be would be the cartridges, but at least in my case - this is the only thing I can come up with.
I ran another test using new cartridges, new liquids, clean and fresh atomizers/batteries. Same thing is happening.
I will continue to do business with JC ... I just won't be using their carts. As many has stated before in previous forums, everyone has their different tastes.
Christian with JC did contact me immediately (awesome, super-fast response!!!
) and stated, "This is a rubberized and heat-resistant glue that binds the 'wool' together and is common among esmoking cartridges. Unfortunately I do not know what the chemical makeup of this glue would be but I do not believe it to be a potential hazard of any kind."
Well, not everyone is allergic to kiwi seeds, but I am... maybe same thing is going on here?
Thanks everyone for your input... if anyone has any other ideas - I am all ears!!!!
