But I sell from my website and on ebay and the vast majority of my customers use paypal. So between ebay and paypal, I pay pretty hefty fees! I would never make my customers pay my paypal fees, though. To me, that's just the cost of doing business. ebay brings me alot of traffic, which translates to lots of sales. It allows me to make a living as an artist. A necessary evil, I guess.
Nah, it's still cheaper to go through the credit card companies. You just setup a merchant account and then get a gateway or processor and it is a lot cheaper than using paypal.

My complaint is our damn Canadian exchange rate...... in the end my order from Janty was bit over $200 Cdn and that damn shipping equaled $33 Cdn to me and took two weeks with customs delays.
Regarding the PCC, it is very handy even though put together with cheap tin. I had to modify mine to make the battery contact the PCC charger with a piece of foam under the lid. Works good now.

Ouch, smokumchevy- that's some bucks you've plunked down. I ship quite a bit to Canada...and heavier stuff too. I've never charged anywhere close to 33! I hope you really like the e-cig, though

BeeQueen, did you read Ludo's post of the Janty PayPal charges as of today? Seems as if some are listening, if only a bit..

Hey! Jeff did send me an email and told me he'd waive the paypal charge, which was really nice of him! Now if only I could get him to lower that 12 buck shipping, lol! C'mon Jeff, just stick it in a flat rate priority box...please? I swear, I will patronize your shop again and again :-p! First the Dura, then probably every other model you carry. I'm teasing (sort of). That's very cool that he seems to have responded to this feedback, though!

If they changed shipping costs, many people would change their minds, I believe. But then, it seems the exaggerated shipping is a part of the price policy really. In other words, they pretend to have cheaper (still very expensive) devices and better (read: expensive) shipping.

Actually their shipping rate is very reasonable now. From what it says on their site it appears that they do place them in priority boxes (I haven't ordered from them before but it says they ship using USPS Priority).
Here are the prices for priority flat rate boxes from USPS.
From USPS site
Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope $4.95 12-1/2" x 9-1/2"
Priority Mail Small Flat-Rate Box $4.95 8-5/8" x 5-3/8" x 1-5/8"
Priority Mail Regular Flat-Rate Box (FRB1) $10.35 11" x 8-1/2" x 5-1/2"
Priority Mail Regular Flat-Rate Box (FRB2) $10.35 13-5/8" x 11-7/8" x 3-3/8"
Priority Mail Large Flat-Rate Box (Domestic Addresses) $13.95 12-1/4" x 12-1/4" x 6"
Here is what Janty charges.
USPS Priority Mail:
Each complete new unit or Cartridge Boxes (over 5): $12.00
Individual Cartridge Boxes (up to 5) and other Accessories: $6.00
So as you can see most of the larger items/orders will go in the regular flat rate boxes which cost $10.35 to ship...Janty charges $12 or $6. The difference is only $1.65 or $1.05 on smaller orders.
Now if they insure their packages, which I assume they do for most of their larger orders...
Domestic Insurance Prices
Amount for Merchandise
Insurance Coverage Desired Price1
$0.01 to $50 $1.70
$50.01 to $100 $2.15
$100.01 to $200 $2.60
$200.01 to $300 $4.60
$300.01 to $400 $5.55
$400.01 to $500 $6.50
$500.01 to $600 $7.45
$600.01 to $5000
(maximum liability is $5,000) $7.45 plus $0.95 per $100 or fraction thereof
over $600 in declared value
That extra $1.65 or $1.05 they had goes out the window and they lose 5 cents on shipping at the least on most packages shipped.
To sum up, their prices are spot on for shipping USPS Priority! I ship tons of things USPS Priority and their prices are pretty close to the mark now that they got rid of the $6 Paypal fee. If they AREN'T sending them in priority boxes then that is a different story.
