Default New to E-cigs (2 weeks) thoughts and questions

Okay, So ive been on this for about 2 months.. I have a DSE 901 from Puresmoker and its IMO the best you can start with. I started on the smokingeverywhere product, and its garbage. The 51 is a bit better, but you cant realy top it off, though it does put out a nice vape. but now i'm onto a 901 and I really love this product.

First I will give some thoughts and some advice for the new guys. Thing's Ive learned from a lamen perspective. Than I have some questions for the Pros.

    1) e-cig most definately helps you not want a real cig. True there are times I crumble and have one, especially when drinking and someone offers me one. But for daily use (at the office) at home I never smoke cigs anymore.

A few things that help. Go outside, take a smoke break even if you can smoke inside. It helps a lot with the mental addiction which I find crippling. I'm military I workin a gov building and 90% of us smoke without exageration. So its hard, but if you take a break and go out and chat with yoru friends, youll find that it takes away that want for one.

    2) E-cigs are prone to over heating. You gotta watch it, if your a power/chain smoker like I was/am you will kill an atomizer fast, and initally your gonna say things like.

    a. E-cigs only last a few hours than they are dead
    b. E-cigs loose vapor fast
    etc.etc.

You need to go look around for how to Drip/top off carts and you need to take breaks inbetween drags. let it cool off a bit, if the atomizer feels warm, than it is HOT AS HELL inside. so chill for a second. do an 8sec count thats what I do. And ever sense I started Topping off and chilling between tokes, I find that my carts / atomizers last a long time.

I killed one atomizer in about a week. It wasnt bad, I flipping killed it because I didnt research around. the other one is still going strong for about a month now, and i replace carts about 2 times a week. Though I can make them last about a whole week if I have too.

    3) Dont try EVERY TIP you find on this forum, when your atomizer goes out. Its ONE THING most likely look around find out what is causing it and try that. remember a good chunk of the people posting MODS, TIPS, etc.. are smarter than you. Truly, i'm a smart guy I run websites for the military I'm no dummy, but i'm no backyard electrician either. And that is what some of these guys are. Becarefull about pocking holes in the atmoizer, boiling it, using solutions to clean it. If you don't understand it exactly, than ask before you try, or youll loose a atmoizer and maybe even a battery.

    4) always drop a single or 2 drops of e-juice on the atmoizer when changing carts. I havent seen a post on this, in specific, but it really helps.

    5) NEVER NEVER NEVER pull the cart off the atmoizer right after taking a hit. I don't understand the science behind it, but TRUST ME PLEASE its not worth it. Let it cooldown than drip. this is what fried my first atmoizer when I started dripping. My initial feeling is its the large induction of air onto the superheated coils doing some scienece stuff

    .................................................. ...............................

    Questions.

    1) How much is too much. I'm worried I over nic a lot. I sometimes smoke a cig cart all the way out from full to empty in one sitting. Does anyone have the numbers crunched? how many hits on a high does cart is safe in an hour.

    2) What is the best ejuice youve found? The stuff from ezpuffer seems better than the puresmoker stuff, though I love puresmokers service and hardware.

Thanks for listenting I really hope this helps you guys. If I handnt found this forum, and some patience I might have given up on something that has changed my life, before I ever gave it a chance.

PS: I went from a 15:54 2 mile to a 13:30, in 2 months without changing my workout routine, by doing nothing more than smoking E-cigs instead of anologue cigs. So vapor or not, this is helping my lungs.

Hi Tinygod, welcome to the forum.

As far as nicotine goes -
There is approximately 0.5ml in a full 901 cartridge
Nicotine strength is measured in mg per ml (eg 18mg per 1ml of eliquid) except Johnson Creek who measure mg per 1.2ml
If you vape 0.5ml of 18mg eliquid you are getting 9mg of nicotine
An average tobacco cig gives 1mg of nicotine

I like Janty eliquid a lot, it doesn't leave much residue on your atomiser and there are lots of great flavours.

Im currently smoking 36mg E-liquid from Puresmoker. So I may chill the heck out on it a bit.

Yeah, it might be good to cut down if you can but smoking is probably a lot worse than high doses of nicotine. If you are still getting cravings for smoke it might not be the nicotine you are missing.

If you vape for the hand to mouth habit action then consider using zero most of the time and have a few drops of high occasionally. That way you get more effect, it's more like the spike you get with smoking and you don't build tolerance to a constant high dose. Tolerance just ruins the buzz and you have to take more for the same effect.

Yes i have done that, especially when driving. I had an hour drive home so popped in a new cart. I put the ecig down 5 minutes from home. If i was smoking analogs i would of smoked at least 5 Marlboro 27.
Is it safe or not, i don't know. But i do know i'm not getting all the other crap that is in cigs and my car smells better when i get back into it.

I have moderated my vaping since then. It wasn't that i felt like i'd overdone it. I just thought it was probably a little too much.

    Hi tinygod,

re #4, the 1 or 2 drops to the atomizer when changing carts is to ensure your atomizer isn't dry to start creating too much heat and frying it out.

re #5, its for the same reason as #4. So that the atomizer has a chance to "wick" the liquid from the wadding and cool it down, ready for the next vape.

Well it makes sence to ME, lol......

    Hi,
These tips really helps and thanks. I do have some questions that I haven't been able to find the answers so I hope some one has the answers. I have a RN 4072 (pen style) and just got a new atomizer last night. It's just not working. I don't know if it's a dud or if I have to do something special when it's new. I didn't have to do anything to the one that came in the starter kit. Any suggestions would help

Next item: When not using my pen style ecig, and the cartridge and atomizer are still in the battery, do I store the ecig cartridge side down or cartridge side up?

Next item: When blowing through the atomizer to remove access nicotine, do I blow from the battery side or the cartridge side and then do I need to prime it with a couple of drops of e-juice?

Last item: When refilling the RN 4072 cartridges with e-juice, how many drops should I put in? All that I've researched about this pertains to the NPRO or similiar models

I realize that I've probably asked more questions than I should but I been looking all over for the answers and haven't found them. Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks much!

I wish someone would explain some of these terms.

For instance, 'dripping'. Now I have some e-juice from Johnson Creek and, when my Npro runs out of vapor, I will pull off the cartridge (I assume the 'cart' herein) and drip one or two drops of e-liquid down into the wool. Is that 'dripping' or is it something different? One post made it sould like the poster would toss the 'filling' away out of a spent cartridge and then stuff it with his or her own stuffing. True?
