    Default Primer question

    Hi everyone,
Read about ecigs elsewhere and started looking around the internet for info on it, then found this site and been reading for awhile to learn what it's about.

I have a question about the primer. I've seen some posts that talk about vaping off the primer in a new ecig. Is it a peculiar taste or something from the factory? Is it to do with the atomizer itself or just breaking in a new cartridge? How long does it typically last?

Thanks for your help. Looking forward to trying these.

I think it differs based on manufacturer.

I've only had 401 carts but I've gotten them from 2 different places. 1 of them had no flavor at all...the other was distinctly cherry (and not bad at all, either).

For the 401 it only lasted 5-10 puffs.

Default Thanks for the fast reply

So, was the primer a metallic taste or something before the cart flavor kicked in?

The primer liquid is indeed the stuff they put in it at the factory, it is there to protect it should an inexperienced vaper vape without a cartridge to prevent burning it out. its taste is not too unpleasant just very plain so vape normally untill the taste/throat hit of your cartridge comes through. Usually for me it takes from 15 minutes to an hour of vaping for the flavour of the cartridge to come through. Good luck!!

    Default Primer on new Atomizers

Hey Mist--Terraphon is right. The factories prime them with liquid so they do not burn up when you fire them up at first to allow time for the e-liquid to wick thoughout the atomizer. I could be mistaken, but the majority of manufactures use a straight pg mix and the taste burns off quickly--Sun

Default Just what I was wondering

So, the flavor from the 1st cart won't kick in for 15 minutes to an hour. Good to know.
I haven't yet got an ecig. I'm the type to read a lot before making my decision. This board has been very helpful for that.

    Default Thanks Sun

After reading about the primer, I wanted to be prepared in case the first puffs were very different or nasty tasting.
Sounds like that won't be bad at all.

Depends on the flavor... I just tried some "french pipe" last night and still can't get rid of it. New cart and atm rinse barely had any effect.
God... who are you people that love this stuff? Tastes like burnt upholstery. Ugh. It is very effective as an appetite suppressant though, I'll give it that.

    Default French pipe

    Oh no.
That's a flavor that looked promising to me.
It sounded more tobacco like than others, though from reading here none of them entirely emulate tobacco.
I see the name French pipe and think of Gauloises and I love the occasional Gauloise.
