I have a story that is sort of the same, but very different, let me explain a few things first.
I am currently deployed to the middle east, I smoke analogs, and also use snus and snuff.
Anyways where I order my snuff from had some E-cigs, so I figured I would order a disposable from them, and started researching and ordered a few other disposable e-cigs from other places. Well the first one sucked, but the second one was a lot better, I loved it.
Then of course the battery ran out, so I was stuck again with analogs. Well I am close enough to heading out of here that I did a LOT of research.
I have got two 510 kits.
2 SB's, used with attys, both 3.7 and 6v battery's and chargers for 170, killer deal.
2 usb passthroughs, everyone talks about the joys of 5v vaping, I gotta see it for myself.
1 PCC, see another in the future maybe, we are outdoors a lot
About 15-20 spare addys, from a few manufactures to see what ones work best and last me the longest.
So many juices, about 12 different manufactures stuff 1-6 bottles from each one.
DYI, I love to cook, and I work with numbers all day long, and being new, well I have no idea how strong me or the wife will need it. She is a light to moderate smoker for just a few years, me heavy for about 23 years.
Anyways, about enough DYI for a long long time I suppose, flavors, injectors, mixing cups and of course nic juice from 36-100 mg.
In all after looking at it all, about 700 bucks spent for what should last about a year, but I know I will be getting more flavors for sure, and trying new things, I love gadgets, and hate smoking...
Did I get a little obsessive, maybe, but then again, I have about 4-5 hundred cigars that I have over here, and cigs, I figured out that on the low side it costs us about 4,000 dollars a year.
Not to mention I will be able to run so much easier, I run 2-7 miles a day, 3-5 days a week, I am really feeling smoking now, I used to run 12 minute 2 mile runs, now I am out of breath doing 14 minute 2 mile runs. I know some is age, but a lot has got to be the smoking.
Whew sorry that is so long. But if you look at the analog cost, it is a deal, then the health issues. Well it has me sold.

My totals for quitting smoking since November:

Two boxes of Nicorrette to try to quit smoking: $100 (waste)
Mini e-cig from local smokeshop w/5 pre-filled carts and USB charger: 24.99 (half-waste, now it's my backup for dripping)
Starter kit from Cignot with USB PT + 2 liquids: 62.00 (WOOT!)
Sample juice from eliquidxpress: 19.99 (half-waste, only liked three of the five)
2 large bottles juice Tasty Vapors: 30.00 (WOOT!)
Replacement attys from cignot I ruined from tweezering out the wicking material plus 2 more juices: 39.50 (Being shipped now)
Replacement battery from cignot when I lost one at SuperBowl party: 12.00 (Being shipped now)

    Total: 243.98

THEN, my father always said he would reimburse me for money I spent quitting smoking. LOL, I am 47 years old, but he told me this every year since I was in college.

So I asked him for $200 last week and he sent it to me, so I am really only out about $43.00 total in quitting smoking.

Seriously... I just ordered a bunch of stuff. I don't think I've broken the $300 level yet but I'm close.

I could add it up... Nah! I don't want to know.

That is about what I have spent since October of last year.

    3 cignot 510 kits and a PCC.
    Tornado kit
    5 pack of attys
juice from Johnson Creek, Halo, Cignot and Electronicstix.

I smoked 2.5 packs a day so vaping has been way cheaper for me since I was into analogs for around $10 a day.

My next few orders are going to be pretty pricey though. Next up is the 25 atty multipack from puresmoker and the tornado 5 pack from TW.

I also want to try the Rath juices and Tasty Vapor next.

So far we've spent 225.00 for the two of us. Two Tornado starter kits from TW and juice from TV.

But when our income tax check comes we have a couple of big orders planned

Ok well, we've also bought blue foam from the pet store, a couple pairs of pointy tip tweezers, a big liquid meds syringe, and a little 1.00 nail grooming kit with tiny scissors that are great for cutting the blue foam So like 15.00 more on that stuff.
