Hi Tarkus
I decided to try Blu for their price and packaging.
The experience with them hasn't been horrible, just an issue of product being out of stock. I still have read many positive reviews of the actual product so I'm willing to give them a second chance.
Besides, a company that has found itself flooded with too many orders is one that's worth watching
, in my opinion.
As far as I can tell Blu is far from a scam or peddler of crappy merchandise. I can look past waiting a couple of weeks for a starter kit as long as I'm satisfied when I do get it.

Yes, I got my very first starter kit from SmokeTip.com and because of it, I quit smoking instantly after 36+ years. It turned out to be very reliable, of course the cartomizers are designed to be throw-aways but there are ways to refill them with e-juice. It is a KR808D-1 model.
After one week with my KR8 I ordered and have since used my Joye510 starter kit from Cignot.com along with a PCC and Passthru and have been vaping happily ever since. I gave my KR8 kit to my nephew (he's 22) a few weeks ago and he quit smoking instantly with it, so it has been put to good use.
I think you'll find an equally good KR808D-1 model cheaper than SmokeTip elsewhere, but if you are ok with getting a 3-piece kit, I highly recommend the Joye510 from Cignot.
I quit instantly with my first vape on 4 November 2009. Thank You ECF!

I would also recommend the 510 from cignot. And I have a great mistrust of companies that make claims of 1 cart = 25 smokes (greensmoke claims 1 cart=2 packs!). Since it is an 808 there might be a chance, but a small chance. And besides, you will find that vaping is not a lot like smoking analogs. It looks similar, but it is actually very different, and you don't think of it in terms of analogs anymore. Its likely very inflated this claim, and its meant to rope in desperate smokers that don't know anything about PVs. If it is an 808, it is very expensive for one.
Deciding not to smoke is one thing. Forgetting to smoke is a different animal altogether.

I've been checking into e-cigs for my husband and stumbled into a pocket of friends locally who've all recently started using SmokeTip and reporting positive things. I questioned one of them specifically about the 25 cigs per cart claim because of the things I've read here on the forum. He said that in his experience, it was closer to 20 as if you go past that, you get a rubbery taste. But 20 doesn't sound awful.
FWIW, this group of folks are referring friends and neighbors left and right and they all appear to be having positive experiences with the product and the company.
I think I'm nearly ready to take the plunge and buy the hubby a starter set. But I'm going to sniff around just a wee bit more before I decide on the actual hardware. I appreciate the leads a few folks have mentioned!

I bought my first kit from Smoketip. They are the KR808D-1 as previously stated. I had absolutely no problem with them and they are really fast shipping. Their customer service is really good also. The starter kit is higher than you can find elsewhere. And they do honor the lifetime warranty on their batteries. I sent one back after 4 months. No problems. The carts for the kr8 from anybody won't last 25 cig. A lot of suppliers overstate this and it is very subjective IMO. I still order carts from them as they are reasonable , I like their regular flavor, and predictable delivery date. They last longer than any other prefilled I have bought so far. (The way I use them anyway). I can usually get about 3 or 4 refills with their carts also. Being the noob I am. I feel lucky to get any of them refilled at all.
Another 2 pennies for you.

just tossing it out there ya said you were thinking of trying the blu. I and alot of people started with a blu. Most of us have now got a different ecig.
A blu is okay for a starting but I am having the feeling ya will end up with a 510 with in the next month.

We bought 2 SmokeTip kits early on. The customer service is 5 stars. They honor their lifetime guarantee on the batteries. I know this for a fact as one had to be replaced. They are KR808-D and cartos are interchangeable w/V4L Cartos. No carto is going to last for 25 cigs. However alot of companies tend to exaggerate. There is no reason to be leery of this company. However, after you try a company you will probably expand to other e-cigs and mods.

I ordered some pre-filleds from them when I got my 808. I ordered on a Friday and had them Monday. I had e-mailed them a question and got a very quick response. As for the carts themselves I have no complaints. They taste good and I got a solid 6 hours of heavy heavy vaping out of the first one before I had to refill it.

I did a lot of research before buying my starter kit and went with the smoke tip. Reason was mainly the price and the 2 piece design. Of course the 1st thing I ever seen was the Blu because of their advertising. Their look is awesome too, but after reading the 2 piece design was the newer technology and the smoke tip was it at the same price of $59.99. I have to say I love it and I have to say that it lasts a long time. It's hard for me to compare as I never know how much I am really vaping. I've been using this thing for 2 months without smoking a real cigarette. I used to smoke exactly 1 pack a day. Now I use one of these things and it lasts me like 4 to 5 days. It's a pretty sweet deal because here in Michigan we pay $6.10 for a pack of Newports and I am spending $1.80 for 4 to 5 days. Another thing that pulled me to them is free shipping. I like em, but then again I have nothing to compare it to. So far so good. I didn't know about this forum until today. Does anyone know if the Smoke Tip uses PG or VG?
