juice stains on battery / how to clean

One of my batteries has juice stains on it (on the part that connect to the atty), and even though the led comes on, it only works some times.

What would be the best way to clean it?
I tried scraping with a needle but didnt seem like a good idea so I stopped.

On the battery thing, try rubbing alcohol on a paper towel. You could also lightly buff it with a piece of fine grit sandpaper.
