Red face New to E-smoking: Questions and Experience

    Hi Everybody,

I have been reading all of your posts about what are the best e-cigs, vaping and e-juice. After entrenching myself in all things 'e-cig'. I ordered the "DSE 901" from Totally Wicked, Evo and something from Eagle e-cigarettes. I just received my DSE 901 and was very impressed with how similar to smoking it really was! I have not had an analog since yesterday, however..... I accidently put in a "high nicotine" cart and almost immediately started throwing up. After that I was nauseaed for quite some time and have been .... out of it all day. I understand that this is caused from too much nicotine. I smoked Marlboro light 100's before I got the e-cig. I am using 'Meduim" carts.

The battery life is about 3 hours and it seems that I have to draw alot from the atomizer before getting decent vapor. My other 'cigarettes" are still on their way, so no information on those as of yet.

Oh and I seem to have a sore throat and stuffed nose. Maybe I am just getting a cold ! Just odd that it happened the same day I started e-smoking.

The Pros: My husband likes kissing me again I work at a K-12 school and none of the little kids called me 'stinky' all day

The Cons: Dizzy, vapor consistancy, battery life, cart life.

I am hoping that the kits that I have on order solve the above stated "cons".

    Thanks for listening!

Well hello and welcome! It takes alot of practice to get use to e-cigs from analogs but should figure it out soon I hope. The high nicotine carts are a bit strong but I started with those because I was a heavy smoker and would smoke the full flavor 100s. I do plan on moving down to the mediums though as soon as I get past the first few weeks of no analogs. Good luck and dont get discouraged as it does take time to get use to e-cigs.

    Congrats and welcome.

I think one of the biggest mistakes many of us make when we first start e-smoking is determining what level of nicotine we need. I started off with a high concentration of nicotine, figuring that was what was necessary for my 30 year, 2+ pack a day addiction. Ummm . . . not. Since I was a heavy smoker, I was vaping A LOT, and vaping a lot at higher nicotine concentrations led to some pretty wicked headaches.

I dropped down to medium fairly quickly, and the headaches disappeared. I'd then spike my medium cartridge with a higher concentration of nicotine when I'd start craving an analog.

A sore throat is a common side effect when one first starts vaping. It can be due to a lot of things (including an allergy to PG if it persists), but most people find that it goes away after a few days of vaping and drinking lots of fluids.

The most satisfying vapor I get is when I use a fresh battery and a fresh cartridge (or a fresly topped off cartridge). I find that sometimes I vape faster than my e-liquids wick. When my vapor reduces, I put the e-cig down for a couple of minutes, and that generally allows time for the liquid at the bottom of the cartridge to wick to the top. And if I'm impatient, I simply top off with a few drops of e-liquid on the cartridge.

It is nice not to smell, isn't it? I was out last night in a non-smoking building. When the smokers would come in from their cigarette breaks, I could smell 'em a mile away. It's an eye-opening experience when you start to get your sense of taste and smell back. Really makes me feel badly about what I've inflicted on my family and loved ones all these years.

Welcome Digital. If you have a fresh battery (charged 4-8 hours) and a fresh cart, you should get good vapor. It can help to take a short, smooth "primer puff" to start up the atomizer, then a longer regular puff.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with the high nic. I'm one of those in the "keep that nic low!" brigade because there are so many similar reports here and on other ecig forums. You might even try low nic and if that works for you no need for even medium.

Keep in mind when ordering that nic measurements vary from seller to seller. You can't just go by Low, Medium, etc., you need the measurements. Some sell Low at 6mg nicotine, others sell Low at 10-12mg nicotine, twice as much! Same with the other strengths. If the actual number is not listed on the seller's website, ask them before you order. We've been asking the sellers to publish but some still haven't.
