Default DSE901 or Janty Dura-C...or Maybe..

Hello All,

I posted yesterday about needing help making a choice on an e-cig. I am really looking to quit smoking and need more then patches or gum. I have been reading for a week now, watching video reviews and written ones. From what can gather the two most recommended are the DSE901 (I was looking at the Vaporguys) or the Janty KB, seems to be some migration to the Janty Dura-C. So now at least my confusion is being narrowed. I like the Janty KB idea because of battery life as I am at work most of the time. I like the idea of the DSE901 or Dura-C because of size and price. So what I am asking is a little bit narrower recommendation.

If your choice was of these items only what would you choose:

DSE901
Janty Dura-C
Janty Kiss Box

Any opinions here will be much appreciated. Thank You, this forum is great and hopefully I will have my mind made up soon.

If battery life is a biggie then I'd suggest the Intellicig Evolution (Evo). I regularly get 8 hrs out of mine - and the usb charger charges them from flat in 20 mins! For such a small device (a bit larger than a King Size) it packs a lot of oomph in the vapour department. Topping up is fiddly until you get used to it - then it's a doddle (igetcha has a very good video on this forum about how to do that). The 901 is imho a no-no for battery life. Can't comment on the Janty as I've never used one (though their e-liquids are yummy!). If you like pipes then the mini-pipe takes some beating, though again battery life ain't what it could be. It is a fantastic vape, however.

I simply love my Dura-C, just got an EVO yesterday, and topping off is not easy...the Dura-carts are much easier to deal with IMO. I haven't thoroughly tested my EVO, probably because I'm so in love with my Dura-C....Battery life on my Dura-C is pretty long as well, probably about 6+ hours, depending on how much I'm vaping.

i'd go with the dura-c because of the warranty and consistent vapor.

I always recommend the dse-901 as a first e-cig.
Although others have come to the market they also bring problems. A 901 is simple to use and renders very good results with little fuss.
It's the cheapest to start with , parts and cartridges are very easily sourced and now you can even get a usb passthrough so you dont need to worry about batteries when your near a PC.

I would certainly steer clear of the Janty Dura-c until the new buyers have tested it for Janty and all the problems of the first generation are resolved.
The Kissbox by all said is a great classic style e-cig but for a first e-cig that you may not even get on with , it's a huge price to pay not knowing if your gonna like it.

DSE-901 first then move on from there. I've been vaping for 8 months, the 901 was my 2nd purchase after a naff super-mini, and although i have alot of other devices now I still use the 901 on a regular basis.

Just to let you know about battery life. I have the DSE901 and if i smoke it like i smoke analogs then it has lasted all day. I am not sure if this is just mine but some people say that the 901 battery lasts like 3 hours and i think that is of constant vaping. I still smoke analogs so the battery may last part of a day but to me 3 hours of vaping is a long time. By the way i am a usual 1 pack a day of analogs if that helps and last saturday i smoked about 2 analogs and the rest vaping and the battery lasted all day.

after 6 different models I like the 901, i have the KB its good but vapor and throat hit are much less than I expected. You will be happy with the 901 and if you are quitting analogs, you will need a couple of others for back ups.
My vote is the 901

901 - i'd also get a passthrough.

no dura-c pending if/when they won't leak or work.

KB? don't know first hand so can't say.

If you're like most of us, you'll wind up with at least two models anyway.

I have a PureSmoker Pilot, a Janty Kissbox, a Janty Dura-C (after having purchased the original Dura), a PureSmoker penstyle, and a PureSmoker DSE901. Whew!

You've narrowed your choices down to some good models. I will admit that I am partial to the Janty Kissbox as well as the Dura-C, two very different models. I find the Kissbox quite relaxing, a cool, smooth vape with lots of taste. The Dura-C, on the other hand, is hard-hitting, with a warmer vapor and harsher hit.

For your first e-cig, however, I recommend neither.

Frankly, it took me a month of vaping before I truly appreciated the Kissbox. When I first started vaping, I was looking for something that mimicked the smoking experience as much as possible. I was looking for something harsh, something that would give me a lung-punch and make me feel like I had just smoked a tobacco cigarette. The Kissbox was far too subtle when considered in that light.

Now that I'm over the initial hurdle and feel pretty good about having made the transition, I have come to appreciate the Kissbox as providing sooo much flavor. (It's taken me a while to get my tastebuds back in operation.) But, like I said, it wasn't at all satisfying for me when I was first making the transition. Kind of like offering a fine wine to a wino who is used to rot-gut alcohol.

I purchased the original Dura, and was THRILLED beyond belief. It was the closest thing I've found to getting that feeling of truly smoking. But my happiness was dashed when the failures began at about the two-week mark. I do believe that the problems have been addressed in the newest model, the Dura-C, but it's going to be at least a few weeks before new owners (myself included) are able to give full reports of how well it is working. Frankly, I'd let the first wave report back on their experiences before you jump on the Dura-C bandwagon.

As others have said, the DSE901 is a great model to begin with. But make no mistake . . . it's not something you'll leave behind if you choose to purchase a different model. It will still be around, serving as your trusty backup, your discrete vape (ever try to "discretely" vape a penstyle?), your tried and true friend.

I have enough spare parts to make a few 901s, and so I'm sending a couple of charged batteries and atomizers (along with some carts and juice) with my sister-in-law when she visits her parents this weekend. Her mother is curious, and I figured this would be an easy way for her to try it out with no worries.

I also loaned a DSE901 to my sister when she said she wanted to try e-smoking. Ummm . . . I have yet to see that back.

I also carry around a spare DSE901 with an extra, unused cartridge when I'm out and about. If someone expresses a serious interest in e-cigarettes, I pop in the clean cartridge, and let them try it. (I then pitch the cartridge.) I then hand the person a PureSmoker business card.

But no matter how many I loan out, I always make sure that I've got a DSE901 with spare parts for myself, because it's easy to operate, satisfying, and reliable.

So my recommendation would be to get a 901 first, then after you've played with that for awhile and figured out what you're really looking for in a vape, then you can branch out. The DSE901 gives you a good baseline for making other choices down the road.

Ha....the other day, I suggested something reliable (like a 901 or penstyle) as a first cigarette (as in he owns no others) to a newbie, rather than the dura-c he was considering because I'm thinking the duras might still have some bugs to work out. Everyone after me recommended the dura-c. Go figure!

Guess you never know what someone's going to say on here
