New puffer here, suffering from "the leaks"

Good day folks,
I got this funky looking gizmo from a friend a week ago as a birthday present and it has instantly turned into a path towards a new life for me. Literally.
I have been kicking around getting nicotine inhalers from the doc for a long time now, but I just couldn't bring myself to deal with the hassles and extreme expense. Then, viola, this thing shows up. I’ve actually been complaining for years that nobody makes a nicotine inhaler I can buy and use. So instead of being inventive, I just kept complaining and smoking tobacco.

What I got was a Janty Dura-C with the push-button battery switch.

So, I have been reading here for hours and hours, watching various reviews and videos, etc...
The Dura is somewhat high maint., but it seems that is just the nature of these devices in general. Having said that, they payoff is worth all the efforts of cleaning, filling, charging and constant hand washing so I can pick up my kids.

That leads me to the one thing I can't get past. This thing leaks liquid. Lots of liquid. I have to keep pulling off the cartridge, wiping the outer casing, then put it back together. If left horizontal, it is leaking again after 5-10 hits.
I've tried doing some searching and can't really come up with any solution to the problem...


Does anyone have any mods or tricks that they have figured out to stop this insufferable leaking?
For the record, I use a syringe to fill my cartridges from the bottom==>up and I never fill them all the way where i see floating liquid, I stop just short of that point when filling.
I like almost everything about this Janty, but if I can’t figure out some way to stop the leaking, I may have to give up my beloved newfound friend. I simply cannot have this liquid all over the place where my kids are exposed to it and I surely can't keep it in my pocket until I get this problem solved.

By the way, My thanks to whoever operates this board and all of the members. You are truly one dedicated bunch with a passion for your hobby and helping other people in a kind manner; something most forums on the internet lack. I can tell you have all spent a lot of time doing this and it is great that you all share so well in your experimentation, both the good ones and the bad!
One point Is that I am always looking for an economical and flexible way to do everything, so I am trying to put together which devices offer the most longevity in hardware, which ones are most mainstream, which ones have generic parts available, most hack-able, etc…

Ok, so now you know my cartridges leak AND I ramble from subject to subject with no obvious direction. Maybe I should cut back to the 16mg stuff.

i don't have personal experience with the item, but there seem to be an abundance of posts about this being a major issue.

i don't mean this as a "go find it" post, but simply there are a lot to find instead of me linking to all of them

it's also something i'd like to see "remedied" because i like the idea of the manual switch, so hopefully something can be done about it. i don't think it's 100% fail rate though, many have reported no problems with leaking carts.

i was under the impression this leaking issue was going to be fixed with the dura c but notice many posts to the contrary. one possible solution is to find the snuggest fitting cart to minimize the leaking. you could always contact them for replacements as some folks suggest, but if the new carts are still leaking i don't know what that solves.

Yeah I know "go find it" posts aren't terribly helpful but I remember seeing something, perhaps having to do with melting a silicone ring?

Like I was saying, I've been reading these posts for about 5 days now. But unless I am missing it, I didn't see that anyone had a solution to the problem.
I'm thinking of going to a different device becasue of this, but I don't know if I can deal with the battery problems I've read so much about not having a manual switch.

funky, IMO it's inevitable, whether you take a long time and spend a lot of money looking for the perfect ecig or instead go straight to it, that anyone wanting the best and most economical ecig is going to end up with one that has a manual switch and a larger and longer lasting but cheaper and non-proprietary battery. That way, batteries will cost you only approx. $6 for four, instead of $15 for one, and all you need to purchase regularly are atomizers and liquid.

In other words, I recommend you look at either the magnum mod type of ecig that you can build yourself if you are handy (link below), or if you prefer to buy already made, the screwdriver (link in my sig below).

I don't have the same model, but I've experienced leaking as well. Sometimes it happens from over-filling, sometimes not. I've found that if I leave my e-cig in an upright (cart side up) position, it doesn't leak. Or at an angle, but again with the cart side up. Hope that helps!

Ok, now THIS I may be able to deal with.
It may be obscenely large and shiny, but if function is the focus, I can deal with it.
In fact, I am wondering if I can build a medium device.
I'm waiting until my first battery dies, but I suspect when I cut it open, I am going to find a couple stacks of AG3 based button cells inside. I figure, if they put it together, I should be able to get it apart after a few attempts without destroying it.


When I get my spare cartridges, I am going to try the gorilla glue trick I found on the board here. I have my doubts since the oils will most likely deteriorate the glue in short order, but it’s worth a shot for sure.
