Default Finally started vaping....impressions, hopefully helpful to other noobs

So I purchased a dse901 and extra batteries, pre-filled carts, empty carts, atomisers, liquid and so on

Some things I've noticed that may or may not help out noobs, since I'm still a noob as well:

I don't really feel it when I'm inhaling...I do get a throat hit if I suck on it for a long time and then inhale

I also noticed it's not instant gratification like with ciggs, it seems to take a minute or so to kick in and doesn't seem instantaneous upon inhaling....For example, when I first tried it I had like about 10-12 puffs of a medium cart and thought "ok, read for an analog now"...as soon as i took a puff of the analog I felt that gross feeling that you have when you smoke a cigg that you didn't really need (as in out of boredom instead of satisfying a nicotine urge)...so I know from that I'm definately getting nicotine from the E-cig, just not as fast

As far as the taste I ordered virginia and marlboro from totally wicked e-liquid and hilton flavor from some other site....I tried them all and they taste nothing like regular cigg tobacoo at all, this was pretty dissapointing but I sort of guaged it would be like that from researching it, although most people say it's sweet like pipe tobacco, but its more like just a totally different thing all together and has no tobacco taste at all

I then tried the menthol carts (regular strength) that came with the starter packs. As a smoker I DESPISE menthol ciggs, hated them and in some emergencies I would turn down a menthol when I was out of smokes and suffer rather than just smoking one (although in absolute emergencies I may have smoked some here and there in my lifetime).....For some strange reason, I found this to be 10x better than any of the regular flavors I've tried..I could actually taste something and I don't know if it was because of the menthol or what, but I could feel the throat hit and it felt like it was doing something......I then watched Spike's hour long video about E-smoking (very informative btw) and she pretty much validated what I found out on my own ("don't expect it to taste like ciggarettes")

I now regret not ordering more flavors because at first when I was doing research, the concept of flavors seemed stupid to me, but now I realize since it's never going to be like ciggarettes anyway, might as well suck it up and deal and make the best of it with some flavors to enhance the experience, however, if there is actually a flavor/liquid that's anything like tobacco, I'd love to know allthough I have a feeling it will never happen because the sweetness of the PG probably overpowers it

all and all I am happy with the product, seems to be a way better alternative than the nicotine gum I tried a few years back

A quick round up for other noobs that didn't feel like reading the whole thing:

-don't go into it with the expectation of it being exactly like ciggs, because it's not

-don't expect an instant nicotine gratification like you do with analogs (maybe this differs for some), but for me, it took about 30 seconds to a minute after a vaping section to realize my nicotine craving was satisfied....so please don't light up an analog right after vaping, its probably too much niccotine to have at once

-experiment with flavors (even if you don't like those flavors in real life)

-give menthol a try, the menthol has something in it that makes it more feel-able when you inhale it and seemed to increase the throat hit for me

Thanks all, and I'm really looking forward to joining the ranks of ex-smokers on here soon

Ciao!

Mike.........

Very good!!! What you wrote is excellent. I am not a noob, but wish I could have read this at that time. Your statements about the e-liquid is correct. Hope all newbie read your thread. We need something to break thru all the confusion of vaping. There is so much information on this forum and it can get confusing.

Default New too

I read on here where someone posted to drag very slowly on the e-cig, and then inhale quickly. It does increase the throat hit, and makes it more enjoyable. Who would have thought you'd have to learn to smoke all over again!! But it does make a big difference for me anyways.

Very good advice.

Thanks for posting this!

I definitely feel the same way as you about menthol. It's the closest thing to the real thing as I've tried, to date. Better throat hit. You can really feel it in your lungs.

Great post!

Great post, down to earth with everything you can expect from your firsts vaping experiences. I agree with almost everything and reading it actually remembered me of my first vape, except the "nicotine absorption" statement, as my first experience was completely the opposite.

I was there, my Evo in hand, loaded with a regular high cart, and gave it a puff. And BOOM, 5 seconds later the strongest nic buzz ever was there. I can describe the feeling by comparing it to the buzz you'll get from your first analog after being forced not to smoke for a day or so, maybe because you were ill or something - that light, slightly spinning head feeling, i hope you get it.

My guess is that you are vaping carts that are too low in nic for what you were used to, in the same way that i was vaping too high ones. It's just a guess and probably not a bad thing, still i wanted to report my experience =)

Your right its not like smoking analogues, but hopefully heathier. I am unsure at the moment and have posted in the health section some queries. Good post

Spot on about the flavours. I never expected to like vaping something called "Peach Cobbler", but somehow it works really well as do other flavours I didn't think I'd enjoy.

At first I thought how strange cherry, vanilla, ice cream flavor all I wanted was a cigarette flavor..... Well I sure am glad I got the JC sampler package cause after a few puffs on those "strange" flavors I was in heaven.....Analogs taste yucky now.....

Nice post dc32... you might change your opinion somewhat on various flavors after you are done with analogs and your tastebuds come back.
