Glycerine can be used for sore throats apparently and other things like cosmetics.

We use USP food grade glycerine in diy eliquid, it performs the same function as propylene glycol which some people have allergies to.

I mean Tesco sells a glycerine cough medicine is this any good? If I go to Boots or Holland and Barrett what do I ask for?

Look in the beauty goods section. Here in the states it's sometimes sold in it's pure form as a skin protector.

I remember working with Glycerin in Chemistry and I do believe my professor said, couple drops of that in the mouth will lead to about 45 minutes in the toilet.
