Default Nicotine Patches

My friends boyfriend really likes his nicotine. He uses a 21mg nicotine patch cut into 1/4 - his theory being that each 1/4 will deliver 21mg of nicotine, but my friend 7 I thnk it will only deliver about 5mg of nicotine. You guys are pretty informative & I welcome all ideas.
Thanks.

The entire patch is a total of 21 mg, so he is only getting 1/4 of 21 mg by cutting it into fourths.

He's still gettin' 21mg, but in smaller doses. Meaning that if a "whole" patch last say 30 minutes, a 1/4 of a patch will only last 7.5 minutes.
