Default Nicotine - Nootropic?

During my college years I'd chain smoke while cramming in for my bio tests. I found that nicotine greatly aided my memory and if I kept smoking until I took the exam, I was able to recall literally hundreds of pages of texts I had memorized over the course of the previous 2-4 days of sleep deprived studying sessions (my personal record is 4 days on nicotine, piracetam, and caffeine). Anyone else have stories of the mental enhancement attained from nicotine?

I use the same stack when studying and found it quite effective as well. Nicotine, piracetam, and caffeine helped me recall concepts and ideas much more easily. I'm a science student majoring in cell biotechnology so memorizing tons of info is required. I think the piracetam and nicotine work synergistically to produce nootropic-like effects.

I've read before that this is indeed a fact. I read somewhere that there have even been studies done to show the benefit of nicotine use in people with ADD (they used the patch in the study) I don't have a link for this, but I think I personally just googled it and came up with some info on the matter.

Any stimulant(caffiene, Ritalin, Nicotine) is likely to aid in concentration.

That being said, I NEVER noticed that smoking helped me concentrate, on anything.

Glad to hear this worked for you too. I think they all work in the same way by increasing short-term memory while nicotine and caffeine also help by keeping us awake and aware .

Strange - I find that nicotine did noticeably increase my attention... but also maybe by satisfying my nicotine distracting nicotine urge...

I quit smoking in January and found that I was having serious issues writing my papers. For as long as I can remember, any time I would sit down and write something, either a paper or a new ad when I was in that business, I would chain smoke and get it done in record time. When it came time to write papers this last semester, I was a wreck - I couldn't concentrate long enough to write anything worth a damn and the quality was far lower than usual. I most definitely believe that nicotine helps you concentrate.

Theres also a good chance I may have some form of ADD, so that could have something to do with it as well.
