I have to say "Wow." I did a Google search for "nicotine and heart surgery" to see if I could find any info for you, and THIS was the top hit! What are the chances of that?

Considering that I work in online publishing and have to be mindful of search engine optimization and such, I could guess that Google somehow thought that I needed this (based on my prior searches). Another may find a different order.

Anyway, there are some good results right down the page. Hopefully somebody with personal experience will weigh in soon, but you can at least get background from the 'net.

    Good luck!

I had open heart surgery when I was born. I'd like some info from the members if they had any heart surgery like me, and some articles about nicotine and heart surgery.

I have stints, 2 in fact. My cardiologist put me on the nicotrol inhalers. He said that I could use them forever as long as I stayed away from regular smokes.

That's what I thought but I wasn't sure. I had a 5 line heart bypass in 2004. This has been one of the main reasons I want the e-cig to work. I also was having problems with breathing, asmtha, border-line COPD. The lung issues are completely gone now.

I haven't talked to my heart doctor about the e-cig. I imagine he will not think this is much of an improvement. Nicotine does have risks for heart and circulation problems. But, then again I was getting nicotine all along through cigarettes. As a hard core nicotine addict like myself there are 2 choices. Smoke cigarettes or and e-cig, that's it.

Hey, that's good news for me. I hope my doctor takes a similar stand.

A doctor is who you need to talk to. Be it the patch, gum, pv, whatever, its a doctor that has the answers, not wikipedia or webmd, for a question like this.

That's a good idea. I do have the approval of my family doctor and Gastro Doc. In fact I just had an appointment this morning with my family doctor. He is changing my Meds to see if we can get rid of some of my issues with quitting smoking and adjusting to e-cigs.
