I've taken the ball and started what could be the new thread. I think someone could gleen the goldplated facts from the last thread and put them into this one. Without the old thread being stuck it will simply roll down the list and soon out of sight by the many persons who could benefit from this data.
If the new thread works out like we plan then we could get a moderator to stick it at the top.

Well, discussion has already begun on the new thread. I don't feel comfortable in moving/quoting from the old thread. I think it would be better if a compilation of facts should be collected by the original posters and then placed into the new thread. I guess we will see how it goes. I'd like to get as much information included earily on so that persons really needing this info will be quickly drawn to read on and get as much data as they need.
Ideas?

Looks like exactly what was needed a2d.
The compilations have begun so the only idea from me would be to request this one be locked?
Stubby? does that sound right?

Sounds good. I would make one last suggestion and put a link to the original thread in the opening post of the new one. Should be able to edit that in. I did do a link in a latter post but it may get lost in the shuffle.

Looks good so far guys. I would like to think we can help raise the cessation success rate quite a bit by providing what we know already. That's what is really important.

a2d, I see your new thread in the same light. A chance to start fresh with knowledge we've gained from the old one, as well as relevant quotes, to aid those who are in the shoes we once wore. The problem is that in the open format, chatter will happen and things go off coarse, back on, take a left turn..... Your new thread will ultimately be that way, it's just the nature of things. I like the idea of starting over in a more informative and determined manner, and I think the thread needs to be, but to live it will breath and sometimes hiccup an important summary to the background, occasionally. Things will aways need re-hashed, just like the questions asked in the "New Members" forum and that eats up space. While I believe the new thread is a "go" by all accounts, where info is put forth, stories told, and answers found, I also think it would be wise to take Madame Psychosis' offer for a more concise and condensed version of the original. I don't see that she can replicate the original in it's range of mental trauma, but she can give readers a taste, and that's really as important as the facts. Be it a sticky or a blog, I feel a seperate "summary" of the original is needed no matter what. We've all seen Madame's abilities as well as her keen knowledge of depression, dopamine and maoi's. And she's willing......that's more than Stubby or me
.
I'll check in later when I find out where I am, provided I'm still where I left myself .

TV, I think you are right. If you and Stubby can twist her arm a little I bet she would do wonders. She's very good at putting thoughts on paper. We could get this thread set up to do the Q&A portion of the job. If it fills up we can just start a new one of these too.

I agree. I had a crazy busy day (That's normal for Fridays for me) and I missed the post by the Madame. There's likely a few other people that could consult on that. I think Vaporer is another one that understands the issues and is good at putting them on paper.

I'm flattered by your confidence, deserved or not. DVap has already provided many of his major points in the new thread, but those could be folded into a summary in a separate location as a go-to link to get a handle on the ideas.
The next decision is whether to make it (1) outline style, with bullet-point ideas under topic subsections; (2) digest style, a chronological summary of points made as things developed; or (3) FAQ/'catechism' style, with the major questions and answers.
(There must be at least some allusions to the mental trauma, the dizzying highs, the doldrums and diversions, for they were the fluffy nougat center of the thread.
)
Been another long haul day today, just got in, I'm wide awake but a little loopy.
(My circadian rhythms work on a roulette wheel, not a clock.)
This weekend I'll be in sound mind for the task, though.
