Default Temporary are we getting it thread

I’m going to make a suggestion that someone with greater writing skills then I write an abstract of the are we getting it thread and start a new one from there. Might make it easier for newcomers to figure out what's going on without having to read a novel full of postings. We can continue the discussion from there. Dvap would be the logical one, but who am I to give the teacher assignments. Anyone up for it?

I'll second you, Stubby. A lot of valuable stuff buried in there and a good clean start with the facts up front is the way to go. DVap is the logical choice for me, also .
I'll check in later when I find out where I am, provided I'm still where I left myself .

I'm currently straining under a lot of long days at work (as evidenced by my less than prodigious recent post output).

The key point to be appreciated in the now closed thread is what I'll refer to as "The myth of nicotine". Simply, the misplaced belief that nicotine is the be-all, end-all of tobacco addiction/tobacco satisfaction.

We don't become addicted to nicotine, we become addicted to tobacco.

Tobacco can be both an addiction and a treatment.

E-liquid containing only nicotine is missing much of what is present in tobacco that calms and relaxes. The importance of the missing tobacco components varies by individual, some don't miss them, others miss them terribly.

Producing a less processed e-liquid containing more of the tobacco components is a prohibitively difficult and technical process for the average person.

Swedish snus appears to be the "magic bullet" for many. While not "safe" in absolute terms, it delivers the spectrum of components that e-liquid can't, while providing a not too difficult to argue harm-reduction versus cigarettes.

I guess it was inevitable that the old thread would need to stop. I do agree with Stubby that someone needs to extract the meaningful data from the old thread and make one to read through and another to ask questions in. I think that more patients,er I mean vaporers will need to read what has been said.

It's for this reason that I wish there were some sort of rating system for posts. Not to create a popularity contest like on some other forums, but just to classify the content.

For example, if you could rate a post as one of the following:
    1) Informative
    2) Funny
    3) Crosstalk? (not sure this is really necessary)

Then, when reading a long thread, someone could simply filter the messages that were rated as "Informative" and get straight to the substantive posts.
Or if you wanted to read just the funny stuff, you could do that too.

Most posts wouldn't need to be rated, just the ones that stand out as something you think others might benefit from or enjoy reading.

Come on DVap, we're only askin' ya to write a book .

It would be quite an undertaking. Maybe we can entice SJ to read the whole thread, then go back and edit out all but the relevant stuff, then make it a sticky........well, it was a thought. Hmm, I wonder if there's a moderator who doesn't have a life and would be willing........ok, grasping here . I'd do it, but I can't read or write. Stubby, what ya got going on for the next few months?

No no no no no. Did I say no? There are reasons I lean towards the arts. It's a strain for me putting together one coherent paragraph. Doing this would not be a pretty thing to see, both the results and me.

The easy way out is just post a link to the original thread and go from there, perhaps with a few suggestions. I think the first 25 pages are where the main action is. If new people can grasp that they should be able to follow what's going on. Of course DVap's blogs could also be suggested.

Perhaps at a future date an abstract could be put together and made into a sticky.

gotta admit I have been interested in this thread, but no way I could pile thru it all, so I 'm not really sure exactly what its all about, I would love to get the 'cliff notes' version! Then maybe I could feel intelligent about joining what looks like a great conversation!

I had a hard time getting through that thread and thought to myself this would be a good idea.

I am not a propper writer...flunked english lol.

In Dvaps' eirlier post, he states the inevitable...that its not just nicotine....its tobacco itself as a whole that we "need".

Basically the thread was about how to extract more of the "essentials" in tobacco and get it into our juice for vaping.

And talking about that inevitable kick in the face that ints NOT JUST NICCOTINE some are addicted to.

I had thought about the only nicotine ide and wondered what about all the othe stuff in cigs that my body has become accostom to or dependent on...I found that thread and and got deppresed for a while as I wanted e-cigs to work soo bad! But I also understood the concept that tobacco is what I need not just niccotine and the "act of smoking".

So far Snus IS that "magic bullet" for me, untill the wonders that be get what I need into my juice.

As TV has said...my e-cig is now just for distraction, for me its alo a cool hobby and to trip people out.

Bla Bla Bla, time for a pris.

I hope to see a nice new thread soon.

Since DVap is occupied by "real" work (pshaw) at present... I would be willing to assist with the work here.
(I have some experience in the art of reading a crap-ton and pulling the relevant points from it.)

However, since I was a late joiner to the thread, and it covered so many points, I wouldn't be confident that I can truly convey the spirit of it. I'd want a veteran or two as collaborator who could co-write, or at least check my work and contribute feedback ... any volunteers?

    Anyhow, that's simply one possibility.
