    Unhappy My "dropper" test results

For the last 2 days I've started getting the jitters like I've had way to much nic, so I decided to do some experimenting to see how much I was actually vaping, my results... way to much for how much I use to smoke.

Here's is how I figured it out, if anyone is interested.

    1) Marked my bottle where the liquid started
    2) With a blunt tip syringe, pulled out 1ml of juice, marked the bottle again
    3) Squirted the juice back into the bottle (making sure all of it made it back in)
    4) Took a small cap and started counting how many drops it took from mark to mark... for my bottles 27 drops make 1ml

For 26ml juice, each drop = .96mg of nic (26mg/27drops)
    I get 12 drops per cart which = 11.5mg per cart (.96mg x 12)

Kind of a pain in the behind, but for the last week I've been sucking down about 4 carts carts a day (roughly 46mg per day). Yikes, I was only smoking about 1/2 to 3/4 pack a day prior to vaping.

Also took the time to actually count how many hits I got from each cart too. From a Dart Mod Cart I'm getting roughly 45 hits before it goes almost completly dry. From a regular Poly filled cart I only got about 35 and was able to squeze out just a tiny bit. So... every 4 hits (with the dart mod) = 1 smoke and every 3 hits on the poly fill = 1 smoke.

Moral of my story... do the math!
Ordered my doubler a couple days ago and will be taking it easier till it gets here!

every post about nic content for cigs changes a lot.. as far as wikianswers goes.. it is saying 9mg per cig but only 1mg is absorbed.. so if going off that it would come to about 3 cigs per ml.

It's highly unlikely you're getting to much nicotine unless you where an ultra-light smoker. Current thinking is that e-liquid is about 40% efficient in adsorption. You're getting about 18 mg absorbed nicotine. Not that far off from what you where getting when you smoked.

I've read those too (and lots of post here on the forum)... I just know that today since I've backed off a bit the "jitters" have gone away and pretty quickly at that. Not sure how much absorption there is, and I'm starting to think no one truly knows for sure based on the various opinions... Think I'll just listen and pay attention to what my body tells me and how I'm feeling. The #'s are just that in the end... just #'s, but a general guide none the less.

yeah as far as smoking and vaping go it all depends on the drag you take how long you hold it in ext.. even if there was numbers that where taken in a lab it would only be results from the condition of their attys and the time it was held..

Sandi, I can't believe you had the patience to count drops and how many times you vaped! For a while I was very curious to know how the mgs of nic I was vaping compared to the mgs of nic I got from smoking, but I think the smartest and safest thing to do is what you said — go by what your body tells you.

As smokers, we regulated our levels very well according to our needs. E-cigs don't provide that same feeling so it's not as familiar, but in time I think we all just sort of learn to follow our gut. When I go to top off a cart now, I just grab the nic strength I know I need. I really don't even have to think about it.
Smoke-free since Oct '09 thanks to ecigs!

Ive gotta say that 26mg for someone only smoking 1/2 - 3/4 pack a day seems a bit high.

I use 12mg with 18mg for when i want to really put the pedal to the medal. I have used 24 a few times but it is WHAM strong :P

I think I go thorugh 2 ml a day so im getting 20-30mg of actual inhaled nicotine, anyones guess to how much of that i actually absorb.

Have you tried just juicing your cart with 0nic flavors and only add a drop or two as you need it? I smoked a pack a day for over 40 years and when i got my PV I started with 0nic juices and a bottle of flavorless nic at 18mg. Would do a nic shot once or twice a day and all was good.
