having copd i had to quit smoking, ive tried everything and nothing worked ..chantix was my last option..

my doc gave it to me, and after 3 days i had to stop taking it due to horrid nightmares, feeling depressed, feeling as if i could off myself and hurt myself..chantix was the worst thing that ever happend to me..

Good for you! I'm glad you were able to identify that something was wrong and stopped taking it. Depression is not something to fool around with. Some people normally experience it along with quitting smoking and adding that drug in some people has drastic results. That drug is a very bad thing for some peope.

Some people normally experience it along with quitting smoking and adding that drug in some people has drastic results. That drug is a very bad thing for some peope.

my hubby said i woke up at nite sleep walking ..he would hear me screaming out in the middle of the night, etc..my hubby hid all the knives in the kitchen lol, bless his soul...

that chantix did terrible things to me..i felt different ,not myself, it was so scary for me..scary for my family to..

i flushed those horrid pills down the toilet lol

Since I was also retarded enough to spend $250 on chantix, I feel the need to speak up about it.

Basically, I can say, "ditto."

Headaches, sleeplessness, nightmares, impulsiveness, temper, etc. The whole deal. I stopped taking it after just a few days, and had a moral dillemna at that point.

Do I dump it down the drain ? I can't do that, it'll poison the water supply.

Do I dump it in the garbage ? If I do that, it'll end up in the landfill, which will probably eventually end up in the water supply.

I'm a psych nurse and considered using chantix til I read the possible and common side effects I would NEVER recommend this to anyone Especially if they had any type of depression etc in their history It can be a dangerous drug, especially if no tells them about the possible dangerous side effects O.K. off the soap box

I never made the connection before reading these forums a few months ago, but my husband took Chantix a couple of years ago. He turned into someone I didn't know. Terrible temper, moody, crabby...I thought it was just the lack of nicotine & stress. Finally, I told him to just start smoking again! Little did I know it was that wonderful, FDA-approved medication.

What good is something that you have to keep taking, that is so expensive, ineffective and casues such a negative reaction in so many people?

I definitely don't understand the praises coming from people who have taken it, yet are back to smoking or vaping. To me, "works" means that you're off cigarettes for good!
