Pretty ingenious but I strongly oppose the smoking ban, just like the mandatory seat belt law, yeah the end result may be detrimental to ones health but I live in the "LAND OF THE FREE" and if I wanna die smoking in a pub, or not wearing a seat belt that is my decision. I love the Cheese Land, but am tiring of our "leaders" decisions.
What those pubs will quickly find is that, unless they did this before the legislation went through, they are not entitled to that exemption. Only bars that are already established as cigar bars will be grandfathered in. It's already too late to start this policy and get an exemption.

    Default Hi there, fellow Cheeseheads.

First day on the forum and right away I found the Wisconsin thread. Yay for me. I'm in Racine, where you can still smoke in restaurants and bars (except, of course, for those restaurants and bars that choose to be non-smoking). Anyhow, I'm a brand new vaper and look forward to getting to know you all!

Wanna meet other vapers? I'm holding a meeting of the Wisconsin Vapers on November 14th, at 3pm in the Waukesha area. If you are interested in more details, please feel free to shoot me a PM.
My wife and I are brand new vapers! We might wanna meet others!

Actually, the ENTIRE State (including Racine) goes smoke free 06/10 My understanding is the Tavern League 'folded' and did not do a very good job of representing it's dues paying members UNLESS you think "allowing smoking outside of establishments" is a win

And here i thought it was just us... didnt realize that it was statewide...

All i know is the bar owners and TLW members that i talk to around here were fighting it the whole time, but maybe im thinking of just the city's attempts....

    Default Wisconsin/Illinois boarder here

I live in Antioch IL and I've had no resistance from any bar about smoking and e-cig inside.. except one.

If any of you from the north woods happen to be in the Lincolnshire IL area..make sure to let the management of CUBBIE BEAR NORTH know you disagree with their policy of not allowing e-cigs to be used inside.

They SUCK Big-Time! Hope they go out of business. In Monona (Madison) WI Dane County has already BANNED smoking, BUT at least one bar I know of is 'offering' e-cigs to purchase

Been following these forums for the last few weeks as I went smoke free and dove into vaping.....First post, be gentle...

I run a restaurant in Middleton, and we still had the choice to be smoke free or not until the current ban went into effect. And we did allow it, until we were not able to.

It doesn't, per say, hurt my business as much because I have a 230 seat restaurant connected to my bar. Food is our main draw, not the bar. The local bars and taverns on the other hand are in a different situation. One of my favorite bars to visit downtown did not make it through Madison going smoke free, because they were denied an exemption, as a cigar bar. (too bad, it was a great quiet place).

I had smoked for 19 yrs until I switched to vaping. I agree that smoking is a disgusting habit, and the second hand smoke at the very least, reeks and it is bad for you and others. I was always respectful of where I smoked and tried to stay away from people when I was, even outside. However, I disagree with the bans as it should be the business owners decision. Just as it is a guests decision to shop or dine at one place or another, or an employees choice to work at one place or another.

You would think that a whole bunch of really smart people could come to some kind of compromise.

We should look into creating some kind of Wisconsin Vapers Club or something!
