Default The 510: USB passthrough worth buying?

There seems to be a LOT of complaints about the performance of the USB passthrough for the 510/Dura-C/Titan, yet some people say it works great. I'd like to see how many users like or dislike the performance of this passthrough.

Personally, I've tried two of the passthroughs and the performance of both is worthless. I've used charged batteries from a battery charger and it makes no difference in the performance.

WHEN the passthrough works (which is spotty), it's performance is always weaker than with the normal manual battery. Elfod has posted a very interesting thread in this forum about the passthrough wiring being to thin and I think this a revision that Janty/Joye definately need to make!

mine works as advertised. no problems whatsoever. I got mine from Widow with the battery inline.

while at home I use it exclusively plugged into a wall a/c usb plug.

I've rarely had to charge my batteries.

I also have a car inverter that should do the job nicely if i want to use it in the car. one of these days I'll get a usb car adapter.

If you want to save on buying batteries with a destined shelf life, the PT is the way to go.

I have two - one from the Widow and one from VaperStuff. Both work fine. They don't come with instructions, so anyone buying their first needs to know to charge the inline battery before using the passthrough.

Is it worth it? Just my opinion, but I think it's worth having a passthrough for each model you have.

I have the 510 passthrough from Janty and it does work as well as the batteries. I power it with my Kensington Power Pack and the charge lasts about 2 days before needing a re-charge.

I do have an inline battery issue though that it won't hold a charge when taken off the Kensington. But I read you can easily buy these batts at radio shack.

I also read the thread about the wire mod. Interesting, but since mine works fine no need to fuss with it.

I have another 510 passthrough coming in from eastmall.net. Hope it works as well as the Janty one.

I have a passthrough I bought from the Widow. Once the battery was charged completely it works well. I did find out that the battery can run down with extended use. Apparently the USB and the battery work together to provide the necessary power. I see a Mod in my future.

Add me to the "have one, LOVE it" crowd!

I even purchased a wall & a car/lighter adaptor so I don't have to use it on my computer.

A passthrough will be my next accessory purchase.
