    Default Vent holes

More of a question than a request...

If I want vent holes in my big battery mods, do you think I could take them to a machine shop?

I have no idea how to go about drilling through aluminum, SS, or brass, and I wouldn't want to mess up my stuff

Just use a punch and a hand drill, maybe some visegrip pliers. It's not like their walls are an inch thick.

hehe... go to a hardware store and get a good metal bit. Use a punch/awl to create a starter hole... and go to town. SS will probably be the hardest go to through. If you can (ie no working parts inside the casing) use water to keep the bit/metal cool while you are drilling. I usually use a cordless drill, metal bit and a little tray of water. Stick it down about 1/2 below the water and hold it tight. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PILOT HOLE or you will probably slip the bit down into whatever the tray of water is sitting on top of.

    Hope this helps.

Very easy. Like others said, use a punch and a hammer to make a starter hole, so your bit wont walk. Make sure nothing is important inside whatever your drilling because you'll probably punch through pretty hard.

Use a drill press instead of an electric hand drill if you want a quality job, especially if your mad is made out of an aircraft metal, DRILLPRESS..!!!

If someone doesn't know how to drill a vent hole, and I don't have a problem with that, maybe just get some hands on instruction, or get someone to help.
I kept getting really bad mental images as I read this thread.
    Like maybe:
Electric drill, underwater, drilling into the butt end of a mod, whoops right through the battery which I forgot to take out, battery blows, unvented mod comes apart, and I drop the electric drill in the tub with me.

If you don't know what you are doing don't do it.
